| The Offspring – You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Lyrics

Oh and I forgot to mention, that the reason this bully has no future is because the only way that he can get the attention he craves is through the violence which is dictated by the "thousands eyes". So ultimately he does not have control, but it is instead the mob that has control over him -"dance f---er, dance". |

Though I admit that this song may also be attached to the military fiasco in Iraq, I really believe that the song is about bullying. The lyric "turning all against one" makes me think of one kid bullying another and people following him. It seems the Offspring takes both the role of the kid being bullied in the song "I never had a chance" as well as one of the kids following the bully. The ending message IMHO is that this kid who is performing the bullying has no real future "you're gonna go far kid" (assumed to be sarcastic considering the Offspring's track record), but right now he is in control through using lies and manipulation. |

IMHO
I think he is saying that his entire life (which he shortly tells), he has essentially been Puck. He just starts crap, and even in his older years that hasn't changed, Seems a simplistic goal, but not so much in practice. |

What I get from this song is - do not loose that inner child, who does not define themselves by social constraints (similar to many interpretations I read here). Also, to relish the experience of life, and do not waste time trying to define it, and trying to predict the future. |

At the hope of angering any Beatles fans, this song is an illustration of why the Beatles died. You have one true artist among three parasites, clinging on for the ride! That's why Lennon unfortunately died young (but his music didn't) and the crap that is George, Paul, and Ringo were allowed to pollute our minds fpr years after. BTW the Beatles own incompetence without John killed the Beatles, not Yoko! |

| The Tragically Hip – Ahead By A Century Lyrics

My take on this song is that it is about how we experience life. The Hip is saying that when we are younger, we have a capacity for caring that we can not reclaim. The line "and that's when the hornet stung me," reeks of when we all as people are "injured," and can never take back that initial innocence. We ultimately never regain that innocence. Do me favour, look at your first love and the moments you experienced, and tell me I am wrong.

I think the Hip is trying to make the connection between poetry and music., and the obsession we all have with celebrity (at the expense of our own experience of the world). |

Please be gentle, I am a virgin on this site, but I agree with a few of the comments I've read here. I think this song is about human hubrus in regard for our natural environment. To put it more directly, I think the song starts off with a child who is allowed to hold arrogant views on the world, and because he is not beaten down (have his face engraved on the pavement), he goes (and grows) to believe himself invincible. I'm not going to go on to talk about global warming, but it is sufficed to say that he is wrong. The song then goes on to talk about certain aspects of humanity that illustrates how screwed up we really are. All I can say is the song has haunted me for the past couple days.
