| Powderfinger – Up and Down and Back Again Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's about being lost in an overwhelming world. And being tossed around again and again, on the sea of people and places and events, which seem to dictate who you are, and the constant pressures (of the metaphorical sea) which become almost commonplace to the person in the choppy sea, so that when steadiness is found, it's almost distasteful in that it is a change from what the person is used to. Of certainty making things uncertain, and of being unable to see for all the problems and issues you have, of looking at yourself, and feeling you might be moving ahead in a way you don't quite understand, but are willing to accept. |

A song good when you're pissed off at someone. One of their few angry songs. Also some commentary on how people don't always act in best interests, but in terms of social advancement. |

Cover of the Song The Chauffeur by Duran Duran. From the Jucie Promo. Often incorrectly titled 'Juice Promo'. They altered it a bit from the original, noticeably the last verse, and a few words here and there. |

| Powderfinger – Head Up in the Clouds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song was inspired by the book 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime', by Mark Haddon. It's about how time still goes on, even if you're not watching it. And if you do (or try to), it hits you, and you are thrown off balance. |

| Powderfinger – Black Tears Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Uh, no, they have never released it. they might at a later date though. I certainly hope so. Black tears is about how awful native Australians have been treated, and still are treated, and how disgraceful it is, and how it reflects upon us, even though we may not have necessarily done what has been done, it's up to us to fix it (although it won't be forgotten). |

| Powderfinger – Ballad of a Dead Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
*shakes head in disgrace* This song isn't about anything even remotely about Aboriginies. Ballad is about (singer) + (person singer likes). How love can be our undoing? (the first verse is a little vague). How he tried to control, and tame his love... and didn't appreciate how amazing she (or he... but I'll go with she for the moment) is, and how he's now willing to take her place if anyone tries to do it to her again, much in the same way someone who is a walking dead man is likely to sacrifice their life for another (and by dead man, I mean a person who is about to die and knows it). It's a little sad, but so romantic. |
