| John Mark McMillan – Carbon Ribs Lyrics | 13 years ago |

John Mark McMillan is one of the few Christian artists, in my opinion, who breaks the traditionally cheesy mold of worship music. And for that reason I revere him as one of the greatest lyricists around today. This song especially illustrates that for me. Out of all his music, this song is the most theologically gripping one for me as it consistently puts a lump in my throat when I think about the words. The reference to being "the cripple at Your table" is a nod to Mephibosheth from 2 Samuel 9 where King David sought out any living descendant of Jonathan. When David found one, even though Mephibosheth was a cripple, David restored him his grandfather's land and said that he would always be welcome at his table, even though he, personally, did nothing to earn it. I love that. This is just my take on it, but when he says "I'm a dead man now with a ghost who lives within the confines of these carbon ribs," I take it to be talking about how we've died to ourselves. Our lives are living sacrifices because our purpose is bigger than ourselves, but all we can offer God is our body and the time we have, even though He's offered us so much more. Such a good song. |

| John Mark McMillan – How He Loves Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I know that as far as worship songs go, it doesn't matter who gets the credit, because that isn't the purpose. But still. It kinda makes me sad that so many people think that DCB wrote this song when JMM's original is so much better. Not that David Crowder's is bad by any means. You can't ruin this song. But, his is so sad sounding and it just doesn't have the same feeling as John Mark's. This version shows that even though life can suck so much sometimes, that's not the end and God's love is bigger than that and is more good than what we are going through is bad. Plus, when a song is written in circumstances like this one's, its impossible for a cover to capture the emotion in the same way. Though again, all versions of this song are good. This one is just undoubtedly the best. | |

"The hour's gonna take you apart On the reckoning day" Should be "I was gonna take your part on the reckoning day" referencing Christ intervening for us. |

| immortlone1188, tell your students that you like Kanye West. That alone will earn their respect. I guarantee it. | |

| ha. tell that to the families whose houses were blown up and whose family members were killed by American bombers. I'm sure that they would be quick to agree with you. Sure some people there have the intention of killing other people, but America is helping the terrorists more than we are hurting them. If the war was going to accomplish anything it would have showed at least a little bit of progress over the last 7 years. I am okay with being politically and militarily ignorant because with they way I live, I do not need either of them. I don't know why you are listening to the flobots if you are pro-war anyway, but its your choice. ha. | |
| Relient K – There Was No Thief Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I don't think thats right actually. I haven't done any research on his motives for writing, but every time i have fallen from Jesus, Satan was the thief. I think anybody could easily point their finger there. Great song regardless. | |

| No, M-J, its saying that we are still bombing Iraq even though most of them are innocent. Most Iraqis are anti-war. Its just a few men that are doing wrong. | |
