Well I think the "tow that stuck in his neck to the gills" is referring to the fact that as he struck the ground, his life was taken away.. the "tow" acting as the rope of a noose. I agree with someone who said that the fragments of sobriquets (which pretty a fancy word for nickname) means that his life has been shattered. "Three half eaten corneas" kinda makes me think of mind body and soul...and they're half eaten by death... the other half is the life he lived until the point of his death. "Stalks the ground" probably means that he didn't feel like he was actually living when he was alive... more like he was always drawn to the ground. "You should have seen, the curse that flew right by you" is probably blaming everyone who didn't notice how much pain Julio was in. "Page of concrete" again referring to his method of suicide. "Stained walk crutch and hobbled sway" well, "stained walk" ties in with calling him a curse. Crutch meaning the morphine maybe.. and hobbled sway an effect of the morphine. "Auto-Da-Fe" seems to be "an act of faith" in Portuguese.. and if that's what they meant then it's pretty obvious that they think he thought whatever came after death would be better than the world he was living in. "A capillary hint of red" either means a little mark of red.. as in his death is of small importance to most... or capillary could mean blood, which works just as well with the "red". "Manupod crescent in shape has escaped" This is a little tricky. Manupod is obviously referring to Julio, and in this context I think they mean that he is special... "the son of the progenitor of the human race" to be exact. "Crescent in shape" would be the fetal position" and "escaped"... well that's death. "House half the way" means his unstable mental status. "Fell empty with teeth" that backs up that the house is actually him, and not an actual house. "Split both his lips" probably literal... jumping off a bridge would split your lips. "One day this chalk outline will circle this city" Excellent line.. means that things are getting worse... Julio isn't going to be the last to die is what they're saying. "Was he robbed of the asphalt that cushioned his face?" maybe a car hit him before he struck the ground. "A room/rue colored charlatan" well charlatan means he's a fake... faking happiness most likely. Now room would mean he was never noticed... rue would mean he's sad.. both work, not sure which is correct though. "Hid in a safe" probably means he never spoke to anyone about how he felt... he hid inside himself. "Pull the pills/pins, save your grace" to me, it seems like they're repeating what Julio must have been thinking to himself. "Everyone knows that the last toes are always the coldest to go" The last toes could mean he was never first, never had anything to look forward to in his life... and "coldest to go" is probably in reference to the brutality of his death. I might be wrong on all of this, but this is how I see the song, and it's very beautiful in my mind. TMV fan forever <3 |

I think he is singing about Scarlett (vermilion, scarlett, both red). He's torn her in two though. He is singing about loving her good side and not being sure what to do when she hurts him. He says "just to have her for myself, now I don't know what to do when she makes me sad" I think he means he wants her to himself as in, he wants only her pure, good side. When he says "she isn't real", to me it almost seems as if he's trying to convince himself that this isn't really her, this side isn't real. I know this seems like kinda a long-shot theory, but if you read the lyrics thinking about it this way, it makes a lot of sense. |

I think this song makes more sense if you look at it backwards.. like take the lines "two pills just wern't enough..." and think of it as the beginning. I think that a girl he really cared about died, so he tried to kill himself to join her, but as he said, two pills just wern't enough, and she's still not waking up. I also think "the centre of the earth" part of the song backs up my theory that she died, because the centre of the earth symbolizes an afterlife.. If you know what I mean.. Anyways I think the song (untill the end where his singing changes) is all a dream, he's dreaming about his life, and its importance in the big picture of it all. At the end he wakes up, and is angry that his suicide attempt failed, and she's still dead, and he's still here. |

| I think the killer has found someone who means something to him, but he knows what he is, and he dosent want to hurt them, so he is letting them go. He knows he can never love anyone without hurting them, so I think collapse the light into earth refers to the setting of the sun, the end of the day. He just wants this life of hurt and misunderstanding to come to an end so he can feel the peace he has always longed for. | |

I think, like a few other people, that this song is about realizing that at some point in your life, you need to wake up. We all tend to live our lives monotonously, without emotion or understanding, untill something happens. I think the very beginning backs up my theory the best "eagle in the dark" refers to that something that is going to make us "fall awake". And "feathers in the pages", I think the feathers (of the eagle) are the things that wake us up, and the book is our lives. and as for the line "one foot in the shower, one foot in the grave" I found that huntingly true. We rush and rush and rush our entire lives, never taking time to appreciate what we have, untill we step out of the shower, and find ourselves standing completly in our graves and wondering where our lives went. |
