i love this song. just like pretty much everyone else that has commented... it just makes me feel happy. i especially love the verse "I like simple songs with pretty words I tried poetry, but it's just no good the pages get lost, besides I'd much rather sing to you I love living life with you by my side you're a smart kid with a beautiful smile and oh god those technicolor eyes" it's not like there's all these big words or cheesy lyrics. it's just perfect =] |

i think this song talks, at least partly, about how a girl got so dramatic about her relationship with a guy. almost that she's trying to hard to make things work... i really like the acoustic version of this song. |

this song has also made me cry... "tell them this love hasn't changed me hasn't changed me at all last night i was writing about you i know my screaming and shouting won't keep you i know i know i know" so often i deny i have feelings for someone. (this love hasn't changed me at all) & i journal about it & sometimes i get so mad i scream & shout, but it won't keep him with me. one of my all time favorite songs. |

for some reason i love the line: "You take your time coming over here I think that's for the best" i'm not sure what the intended meaning was, but to me it means we're not too close yet (as in we're not running to be with each other, not desperate for each other yet) but i'm not sure we should be. her defenses are up. |

i think this song talks about how this guy uses a girl as sort of something to fall back on, or to get somewhere he wants to be... a "stepping stone" but the girl says she's "standing upright on my own" and she doesn't need to be treated like that. i especially love the chorus of this song "but i will never be your stepping stone take it all or leave me alone i will never be your stepping stone i'm standing upright on my own." props to duffy, she is an amazing artist with an amazing voice! |
