| The Offspring – Pay The Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song, like many rock and roll songs, is just an anthem against "the man". "the man" of course being any figure of authority oppressing the narator, whether it is the government, the boss, the parents, God or whatever... | |
| Metallica – The Unforgiven II Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think its about someone who struggles to trust someone and allow them into his heart (closed door). He then tries with someone, but doesn't recieve the acceptance/love he needs (the door cracks open but there is no light shining through). Then I think, due to him being so fragile, he kills her for betraying his trust. there are lots of hint towards this in the song: "She loves me not, she loves me still, but she'll never love again" "She lay beside me, but she'll be there when I'm gone" "Yes she'll be there when I'm gone Dead sure she'll be there" -- he puts alot of emphasis on the word "dead", more than is necessary had it only been a figure of speach "Or are you unforgiven too?" -- he insinuates that she is unforgiven for what she has done, but so is he, for what he has done to her. "Lay beside me, tell me what I've done" -- he realizes what he has done "The door is closed, so are your eyes But now I see the sun, now I see the sun Yes, now I see it" -- she is dead because he could not really open to anyone, and he realizes this now. this is just imho |

| The Offspring – Half-Truism Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is an anti-war-in-iraq sentiment, specifically that it insinuates the war was started under false pretenses of helping (which would have been altruistic), but was in fact only driven by personal agendas (thus: half-truism) | |
