so I just watched the music video, and there is a part where the brother is with a girl and they are running from the fire, and she trips and falls and she gets burned up...... I don't really get how that applies to the song. I read the lyrics and it didn't really talk about a certain character dying. Maybe I am missing something. |

| You are correct. My manager at starbucks is the andrea in this song. She used to date mike awile ago and they were gonna get married and whatnot, but she called it off. She brought in all these old letters and pictures of them together, it was sooo weird, but cool. | |

I think that this song is written from Jesus's perspective. If you believe in the Trinity then that mean God, jesus and the holy spirit are seperate. For instance the line "And I saw god cry in the reflection of my enemies" could be when Jesus is getting hung up on the cross/wrongly acused for things he should have not been punished for. then "And all the lovers with no time for me" could be talking about people in general who just don't seem to think Jesus matters anymore and they are wrapped up in their lives and maybe once where they used to depend/pray to Jesus, they don't anymore. Lastly "And all the mothers raise their babies to stay away from me And pray they don't grow up to be me" could be talking about how everyone blames God/Jesus for what happens in the world and claim things like ""If jesus/God was real why would he let this(enter bad thing) happen to me!?" and so that could pertain to Family's trying to raise their kids away from Christianity or the belief in God. This is just what I think of when I sing this song and listen to the words. |
