Bauhaus – Poison Pen Lyrics 16 years ago
I wonder if they really were junkies or if it was the cliche Burrough's-derived countercultural romanticization of heroin.
Murphy and Ash looked like junkies.

Title gives it away

Bauhaus – St Vitus Dance Lyrics 16 years ago
Peter Murphy had a kind of spastic way of dancing and it usually involved strobe lights so you're Ian Curtis metaphor really isn't so farfetched.

Bauhaus – The Sanity Assassin Lyrics 16 years ago
Well what with this and "Spy in the Cab," All I can think to say is "Paranoia, Paranoia da da da de da"
Not that I'm oblivious to a bit of that.

Bauhaus – The Passion Of Lovers Lyrics 16 years ago
"Death through passionate intensity" Heck yeah! No wonder so many great people died so young.
Simply a break up song Pete wrote for a girlfriend who was never really exposed to the public eye. That's why it seems so enigmatic I guess.

Bauhaus – Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
Yup just a fuck off to the press.
I can't help but laugh when I hear it because Peter Murphy DOES sound EXACTLY like David Bowie.

Bauhaus – Untitled Lyrics 16 years ago
Just randomness. I write stuff like this a lot and I don't think it means anything. Of course you never know but in the end nothing really means anything anyway.

Chocolate Power is so crisp.

Bauhaus – Boys Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about glam rockers, rather. Peter Murphy was extremely vain in the early 70's (more so than later) and wrote this about it.

Bauhaus – Antonin Artaud Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about Antonin Artaud. Obviously.

Bauhaus – All We Ever Wanted Was Everything Lyrics 16 years ago
They played it often on the reunion tour, probably because they liked it more because it captured the essence of their youth.
It's about growing up in Northampton.

Bauhaus – 1. David Jay 2. Peter Murphy 3. Kevin Haskins 4. Daniel Ash Lyrics 16 years ago
Well Bauhaus is 3/4 Art School Kids right? So they use Surrealist techniques sometimes when writing songs. (Exquisite Corpse, Cut Up, Automatic Wrting, etc.) That's why some of them make no sense.

Peter Murphy – Cuts You Up Lyrics 17 years ago
It's his calling. He is an Indigo child. so am I. All Indigo children feel a need to seek truth and purpose. We know we have a mission and a destiny. its complicated and hard to explain. But thats what hes talking about in this song.

this one's pretty straightforward. Don't be afraid to stand up for what you beleive in even if its odd and other people degrade you for it.

Bauhaus – The Three Shadows, Pt. 1 Lyrics 17 years ago

Bauhaus – A God in an Alcove Lyrics 17 years ago
there's not much connection. But this song immediately makes me think of the Greek god Pan.

Bauhaus – All We Ever Wanted Was Everything Lyrics 17 years ago
alot of Bauhaus's songs are about the mundanity of normal life. I think this one was about the industrial town the grew up in.

submissions
Bauhaus – Boys Lyrics 17 years ago
i think it actually is about transvestites, not goths, it would fit goths except for this came on the same recordas Bela Lugosi's Dead, and Bela Lugosi's Dead was the song that started the whole goth thing, and so Boys couldn't be about goths becase goth wasnt around when it was written!

Bauhaus – The Dog's A Vapour Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song means that there is something inside of all of us that is a primitive instinct not to question, just to do. It also could mean in an abstract sort of way that while we are so small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, that we are also extremely important because the smallest difference in what happens could start a chain reaction and change the entire universe.

Bauhaus – In The Flat Field Lyrics 17 years ago
The members of Bauhaus grew up in a small grey industrial town and I think this song really reflects that. Just like in 'All We Ever Wanted'. But instead of referring to just that one situation it refers to a more universal desire to escape from a typical boring mainstream life. And like Iamanalligator said it could refer to a mental, physical, sexual, or any type of situation, but it means not settling for the norm.

Bauhaus – Hair Of The Dog Lyrics 17 years ago
Perhaps this song refers to stopping something that is against your morals or something that just goes against you. Like stopping something that you dont want to do that you are doing for other people, because it says "hair of the dog that turned' and i think its symbolism because a dog is depicted as a loyal animal and turning perhaps means rebelling.

Bauhaus – Crowds Lyrics 17 years ago
At first I thought this song was about a breakup, but it does seem like it could be about fans, except for that it seems its referring to only one person, but then it's called "Crowds". But then in the song "Spirit" they say "We love our audience" perhaps it's referring to a certain occurence at a concert or the fans that were there or haters or something.
