To add to my previous interpretation the song doesn't necessarily have to be about people who are dating, it could be about anyone. Perhaps someone who is being treated bad or just not being treated like they should be treated and they are just trying to block it out and deal with it rather than taking a stand and defending their self. |

I believe that the song basically is about her being in a relationship and the person that she is with always just trys to cover things up and forget about them whether than trying to deal with and fix their problems. So the problems just go around in circles like a revolving door, you just keep going round and round until you make the choice to step out. |

I believe also that this song is referring to celebrities or other people who do things that put them in the spotlight. She says it's obvious that you're dying, dying just living proof that the camera is lying, obviously she is saying that they try to put on a show to make people think that they are happy and that they absolutely love what they are doing, but really they are not completely happy maybe because they have gotten to know all of the down sides of fame. Paparazzi for example. |

I agree with nyx, I believe that she is referring to a time in her life where she was forced to give up and leave the place that she called home, the place where she grew up and made all of her friends. This song touched very close to my heart because I can definitely relate. |

I didn't realize what this song was exactly about until I realized that Switchfoot was a christian rock band. After discovering what this song was about it made me like it even more because I can definitely relate to it. I have always been a Christian and a great believer of God but I am starting over by giving myself to him and becoming a better person. |

I like to think that the song does have a more spiritual meaning but as some said he could be referring to a girl who has really strong feelings towards him or someone else who loves him. When you really love someone you will do anything to please them and you would put your life at risk to save them which is basically what he is saying this person would do, but he doesn't put as much into their relationship as this person does and he is trying to be more loving towards this person. |

After reading some of these comments I have gotten a better understanding of the plot of the song. It is obvious that he is indeed very intrigued by her but I feel that when you really like someone you don't want to see them dead no matter if they are with you or someone else because when they die it is like they are being taken away from you never to return. You'll never get to see them again (atleast not until you die) or hear them again. |
