| The Strokes – What Ever Happened? Lyrics | 16 years ago |
My favorite lines have got to be: "Oh dear, is it really all true? Did they offend us and they want it to sound new? Top ten ideas for countdown shows... Whose culture is this and does anybody know?" I just think it can be interpreted so many ways. I guess I thought of it as having to do with the culture of the nation or area as a whole, and how people possibly misrepresent or underestimate others, though I'm not really sure of the meaning of countdown shows. |

| Interpol – Direction Lyrics | 16 years ago |
So I have this other song which I thought was titled Direction but isn't, and is definitely Interpol. But the lyrics are completely different, and I can't find them online anywhere. Which is really weird. Doesn't anyone else know a song that starts with "Nice teeth, great hair/I wish I could take you from here, Actually/We could sit on that/We really need to find that chair. It's a lot longer, about 1:50 in length. |

| Interpol – No I in Threesome Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I interpret it as the two have been a couple for a long time, through good and bad, but he finds it's time to move on. Perhaps he's attracted to other girls, or she's attracted to other guys, and he's saying that they can't continue the way they are. That they can't be in a relationship liking other people, and he wants to end it after all the time. I really like the line 'Teeth marks of time.' It seems to describe the wear and tear of a relationship through the years well. | |
| Emigrate – Temptation Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's "leading me astray" not "leading me to fray" And I think maybe it's about that he's with a girl, but he's tempted to cheat, and he doesn't want to. He feels like he's being tested, and he wants her to accept his apologies and to help him become stronger and resist. |

| The Strokes – You Talk Way Too Much Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The lyrics to this song are just so true. I feel lame saying this, but it's the exact thing with my relationship. We both just need time, we can't make the right decisions, always argue, talk too much. And then sometimes I can't help thinking it's the end. I don't know...it just rings true somehow. Like, connects to my specific situation more than anyone or anything else I've heard. It gives the advice I think I needed... "Give them some time, they just need a little time." So time is something I'll give. |

| Franz Ferdinand – The Fallen Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think it could be about how religious people tend to be hypocritical. Like, these high Christian people think they're great, and though their religion says they should be helping sinners, they don't. They judge them and avoid them, throwing them bread but not really helping them overcome their 'problems.' If St. Rollox is a church and the person kissed it adieu, in other words they left the church/religion. They took up stealing and became 'the Fallen,' which I took to mean someone fallen from society. They were no longer accepted by the religious people or the rich people. Kunst means art in German, not really sure what it means in context with the song. I think the song is saying that these fallen people are really the ones who are right. They don't judge someone because they live differently or because of religious differences. Perhaps if god or christ viewed from the eyes of the fallen, the people who hadn't helped them would be damned. Idk if this is right, but...yeah. | |
| Franz Ferdinand – Twilight Omens Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| ** 11340 for hello, if that wasn't obvious. | |
| Franz Ferdinand – Twilight Omens Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I wrote your name upon the back of my hand Slept upon it, then I woke up with it backwards on my face Reading forwards from my mirror to my heart I just love those lines. They're so clever. And the calculator part. I remember how people used to make '1134' spell out hello or hell when i was in elementary school... Heh. |

| Franz Ferdinand – Katherine Kiss Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm so completely in love with this song. It's so simple. In a great way. It's interesting, the lyrics are so similar to No You Girls, but the delivery is opposite and it takes on an entirely different meaning. Hmm. The way he says 'Katherine kiss me' is so sweet-sounding. It seems yearning, almost. I think it's interesting how he says at the end that he never wondered how the girl feels. Perhaps it means he messed up, but has been given another chance, and is thankful? I don't know, just making stuff up, really. I looove this song though. I've listened to it like 45 times since the CD came out... |

| Shout Out Louds – My Friend and the Ink on His Fingers Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I love this song. Does anyone know what album/EP it's from, if it came from one? |

| Franz Ferdinand – Do You Want To Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Agreed, British men ARE sexy. Especially Alex Kapranos. But anyways. I love the dance-ablility this song has. I listen to it in the mornings to wake up. I'm not sure what it means in detail, juts general ideas, like they're at a party, and...yeah. Everything I'd say has already been said. |

| Franz Ferdinand – Fade Together Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I like this song a lot, though I can't tell exactly what it means. I take it more as a love song, though break-up song also seems to work for it. It's the most listened to song on my ipod. :P It's so pretty and peaceful...I just love the piano, and I hardly ever love piano songs. I think the Berlin wall reference could be from saying that she seems as happy as someone who has been reunited with someone they care about, by jumping over the Berlin wall [or after it fell]. I dunno. Love the song though. :] |

| Interpol – Pace Is the Trick Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think of this as he's with a woman, who maybe he loves, and she's very powerful [in their relationship.] He refers to him as a lioness, which seems to me both powerful and affectionate for some reason. She has many things she wants, insatiable needs, and he can't control her or give her what she wants, but he wants her. He tries to show off, sweep her off her feet, maybe. I think perhaps the 'you don't hold a candle' part could refer to leading, as in showing the way with light. So she is unable to lead the way for him. I love the guitar and vocals of this song. It sort of sweeps you up and you keep hearing it after it has ended. |

| Deerhunter – Agoraphobia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Agoraphobia means the fear of crowds or open areas, so the buried alive thing could make sense. It sounds as if he says come for me, comfort me, and cover me, so the above lyrics might be right. | |
| Franz Ferdinand – Wine in the Afternoon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is such a great song, and the music video is, too. I love how peaceful it sounds, and the simplicity of the lyrics. A simple interpretation could be an untroubled, almost lazy lifestyle. It's relaxing to listen to. Reminds me of the Beatles, in some ways. |
| Franz Ferdinand – No You Girls Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is such a catchy song. and i love how he says Yes I love -- I mean I'd love to get to know you. this amuses me greatly. and the comparison between guys and girls is interesting, too. |
| The Strokes – On The Other Side Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think the song is about a man who is sad because someone left him, or maybe died, which would explain the title. Now that the person's gone, he hates everyone, blaming them for taking the person away. He feels guilty for hating them, since they really didn't do anything to him, but he's jealous of their happiness. So he hates himself, thinks he is over-judgmental, etc. He's dealing with his problems through drinking. | |
| Louis XIV – Guilt by Association Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I see how it could apply to politics, but my first idea was an armed robbery. The robber is talking to the people in the store, they never thought they'd be in that position; they're realizing they might not be going home. |
| Louis XIV – Marc Lyrics | 17 years ago |
about a kid in a car accident. maybe the boy's [marc's] girlfriend got in an accident. that would explain 'was she driving too fast when the turn came in.' or it could be him in the car, and the car he hit had a female driver. |
| Interpol – Mascara Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i heard this song for the first time earlier. it is one of the best songs i've heard in my life. i love the lyrics 'stay hidden, yeah remain unseen.' and 'time should slow down.' |
