Norma Jean – Vipers, Snakes, and Actors Lyrics 15 years ago
But there is a difference between protesting against abortion, and blowing up the clinics providing them. Jesus teaches us about loving thy enemy. Never did he go out and slaughter those guilty of sin. For everyone is guilty of sin. Jesus never took a single life, other than his own.

I'm quite confused here guys.

I don't understand how "Introduce knife to heart" translates to "Accepting Christ in heart".

Norma Jean – Death Of The Anti Mother Lyrics 15 years ago
"We will burn for this. We will both of us burn."

Jesus died for us so that we shall not perish, but have eternal life. He did not die to save us from burning. God will punish us for the sins we commit regardless, but we are saved at the same time thanks to Jesus. We will burn because God loves us. To punish us is to correct our wrong doings. To keep us from commiting those mistakes again, and to learn from them.

We will not perish because of Jesus, but we will burn for our mistakes.

@Luke777

Well couldn't someone's relationship be their relationship with God? That's how I look at it, at least.

@Stryker69

I highly doubt it. You are going to have to break the song down for me. I see no technology metaphors in there at all.

Sorry for not replying back sooner.

"You where the cross like a crown, you where the cross like a dagger."

Shamgod covered it perfectly.

He first refers to a crown. A crown represents being higher up in life, "better" than a regular person. Then he refers to a "daggar". The dagger represents using their religion to attack the other person. One example would be hanging a person for what they believe in.

As Christians, we shouldn't say we are any better than any of our brothers or sisters in life. And we definitely should not be hurting anyone because of their beliefs. We need to be kind loving people. Show them the way of Christ through faith and love.

"It is time to move on with the weapons of faith and love"

"We will burn for this, we will both of us burn."

It may not be uplifting, but it's not far from the truth. I don't really mind it. We are listening to pretty angry music to begin with.

@CovinS

Ok, I see where you are coming from, my apologies. I mis-interpretted what you said. I thought you were kind of insulting religion from what you said. Completely my mistake.

Ok, that makes sense. Whenever I hear the word slavery, I think right back to Civil War era, and would never think of a Christian life as slavery.

I like your description as well too. The more I look at "it's all your fault" the more I like what you say about how he's referring to satan. It's hard decyphering the meanings behind their songs. I absolutely love how religious they get. The best thing to sing about in music.

and NJSoldier, thanks for your input. I couldn't figure out what cause they would be singing about. Another powerful song by them.

I absolutely love the line
"You wear that cross like a crown, you wear that cross like a dagger."

So true to today's society.

Thanks for the interpretation Brunsnaes.

I would not have looked at those lyrics like that. I knew the song was about asking God for help, but was lost on most of the song.

That does help clear up a lot of meanings behind the songs. I'm assuming she's the one doing all these sinful acts with the other person, causing that person to sin.

Thanks. I actually thought of that a few days ago while listening to the song again, but

"Searching for the strength to breathe in one last lie from you,
but right now the grave seems so much easier."

I'm still thrown off by how to interpret these lyrics.

It sounds like maybe sin, or whatever else, is trying to influence you one last time. But it would rather go to the grave because the person is staying strong? I'm still pondering those lines.

Whitechapel – Prostatic Fluid Asphyxiation Lyrics 16 years ago
lol the rising end you are an idiot.

Their music is not about promoting to help women being abused. Their music is about being as brutal as it can be. I love the musical side to them, but hate what they write about.

Painfully obvious about what this is about. Whitechapel is the road in England where Jack the Ripper got most of his victims from.

This song is about Jack The Ripper raping his victim. It's such a terrible song, but man does he put it into detail. I will give it to him, that he is a great writer, just very dis tasteful subjects.

I like your idea, but I highly doubt Norma Jean is referring to religion as a body of laws and causes with little or no reason.

"Carry your flags, march into that fictional cause and show off that medal.
Just don't reach for that gun.
Carry that banner. Build that heart out of stone.
Just don't reach for that gun."

-People are standing up for all the wrong things these days. Promoting all the wrong things. One example would be politicians preaching the wrong things. They don't specifically reference politicians, but that's one area where this is done repeatedly. The line "build that heart out of stone" means that they truly believe it and it's corrupting themselves. the line "just don't reach for your gun" means if they go any further, it will only cause much more damage and destruction.

"You cleaned the outside of your chalice but it's filled with robbery and self indulgence... just like the rest of us."

-I love this line. Easy line to interpret as well. Basically we are all after what is best for ourselves. Not really going after the greater good, but what fits ourselves best, and believe it is the best for everyone.

"Come down from that tower. Nothing will be the outcome.
Nothing is the outcome."

NJ is asking for this person to stop thinking they are so great. Come back down to reality. Then they go on singing about what this person is fighting for, won't change or help a thing.

Norma Jean – Birth Of The Anti Mother Lyrics 16 years ago
"From the bloodline of vicious serpents, a dreadful heart within a lovely shell.
A demon's heart, but with the face of god.
I guess a liar's heart is still true even if her lips are not."

-Sin is a wicked thing. It's pure evil, but when we come across it, sin looks heavenly. We see it as something beautiful, and notice nothing evil about it. When some people come across crack, they don't see how dangerous and life destroying it is, but how great the high will feel.

"The vomit that flows out from your mouth has seeped into your chest.
Searching for the strength to breathe in one last lie from you,
but right now the grave seems so much easier."

When you sin, it has grabbed a hold of you. And it's single purpose in life is to hurt you, to infect you. The last line throws me off though. Possibly the person being infected sees death as a better option than committing sin maybe?

"The fear of that devil in me... it comes from you.
You're like the smoke in the window."

-I'm going to make a guess here. Possibly sin is the reason we fear satan. Sin is a powerful influence over us. It causes us to do terrible things. The smoke in the window could be a metaphor for how it clouds our judgment.

"She comes for sorrow. She comes for lies.
We came here for blood. Did you? Yes or no?"

-The first line discusses why sin is here. The first sentence in the second line is stating that someone is here to try and destroy sin. "did you?" asks if [you]whoever is here to sin as well. Reason being...

"No one's getting out because we came for blood.
We're not breathing and i don't care,
because no one's breathing... she's not breathing."

-We must do whatever it takes to stop people from sinning.

"Choke that witch out.
Suffocate her.
Choke her out."

-Again, do what is necessary to destroy sin

This is a very powerful song both in the lyrics and in the melody. Norma Jean has produced another excellent album.

Sounds pretty self explanatory here.

Apparently he wants something to hurt. He wants it to disappear for all suffering to end. My guess is sin, but could also be satan.

The last to lines talk about how the both of them will burn. Sin is not the only person to blame. We have the choice to sin. And we will burn because we choose to sin.

Underoath – Desperate Times, Desperate Measures Lyrics 16 years ago
Since Underoath is very religious, I'm going to take that route. But for those who dis agree, replace every time I say sin, with "wrongdoing"

I feel this song is about a person constantly struggling with sin. This person is addicted to something. For some people it could be drugs, alcohol, sex. Whatever it is, it's sin. They are constantly sinning, and can see themselves sinning.

The beginning of the song starts out with a person realizing how pathetic he is. He's out of sinning for the moment take a look at himself and truly realize what he is.

The song moves on to himself wanting to escape his addiction. He's desperately trying to regain who he truly is.

The final stanza talks about how it's getting difficult. Either quitting the addiction is difficult, and life has become so difficult because of addiction. He's tired and doesn't know if he can make it. I believe Underoath is trying to relate to how everyone else feels. We all hit hard times in our lives where we feel like just giving up. Where life is just unbearable.

Underoath would not write about suicide though. Just how hard life can get at times. I'm positive they would not promote suicide.

Oh, and it is an amazing song. I cannot wait for the album to come out.

Shamgod I disagree with you about the line "I have been sold into slavery"

Serving God is far from slavery, so I doubt that's what NJ means behind that line.

For the most part though, I agree with you.

This song is about falling away from God and religion. And without God, everything you do is pointless.

"Like death never content. Starve the old and feed the new"

We are never happy with what God provides us.

"Was there love once or have I forgotten her."

Forgetting about religion, and questioning if there was even any belief in the first place.

"I have been sold into slavery."

This line is talking about what happens when people fall out of religion. People move through doing things without any real point. Just like in slavery, when you have to do tasks that bring you nothing in return.

"I try to drown my sorrows but sorrow swim’s well."

Those who fall out of religion feel like something is missing. They are sad, and cannot get rid of the void. I'm not totally sure what this line means, but that's my guess here.

"A lust for complete nothingness that lusts for more nothing."

Moving through constantly searching for something. But if it isn't God, it's meaningless.

"Motion without meaning. Action without function. nothing will breed nothing."

Without God in your life, everything you do is meaningless.

Also, through out the song NJ repeats the line "And it's all your fault"

They are stating that its our fault that we are falling out of love with God.
