Great song that was written by the Gibb brothers and beautifully performed by Barbra Streisand.
I used to have a girlfriend who put this song on when we made love. Listening to it now reminds me of her. |

This song is probably not about masturbation. With the line, "though sometimes I wish someone would," I think that's just referring to the fact that the guy himself isn't perfect - isn't the perfect boyfriend - and she wishes that she could leave him... except that he's easily the best in bed.
And also, there's that line, "how'd you learn to do the things you do?" I doubt the singer is referring to herself.
Furthermore, this song was written for a James Bond movie. Bond is the guy that this song is about, and nobody does "it" better than him. |

This is a really catchy and upbeat tune, which belies some really depressing lyrics. The song is about not taking advantages of the opportunities you have when you're young. It's about being too afraid to talk to that girl/guy you like, and then suddenly it's too late because you're old and gray. I think a lot of people do end up "settling." |

Yeah, obviously he's been drinking all night and trying to get some girl to have sex with him. It's just a great tune. |

It's about a very laid-back guy who doesn't care about much and just lives life how he wants to. |

This is about the singer's relationship with his girlfriend. He doesn't like some of the stuff she does, like blaming him for everything that goes wrong. They fight often. But finally, he sees that she was actually right all along and realizes that he needs her.
It's a great song. I'll always remember it from the NHL 2002 soundtrack. |

Kind of obvious, but this song is about a guy who misses his ex-girlfriend and is asking her if they can get back together.
It's my favorite song from The Beach Boys. |

This song is supposedly based on Beethoveen's short relationship with his one true love. The meaning is pretty obvious: she's telling him to forget about his worries for now and just spend the night with her.
Very beautifully written and performed, in my opinion. |

This is the ultimate nostalgia song. Basically, the guy singing messed up a relationship a long time ago and wants his girl back after he realized what a mistake he made. Despite all this, I like the fact that the song is very upbeat, very hopeful-sounding. |

My favorite off Minutes to Midnight. This song is about a guy who has just had something terrible happen to him, from which he will never recover. Before, he was just happy all the time and didn't know what pain felt like, and now he got a healthy dose of it all at once.
Alternatively, it could be about a slow decline of someone with one setback after another. One day, he wakes up and realizes that he is a completely different person than he once was, and is most certainly worse off for the experience.
I don't know, these lyrics - "I used to be my own protection, but not now / Cause my path has lost direction, somehow" - just mean a lot to me for some reason. And I especially like the ending. |

| The Foxboro Hot Tubs – The Pedestrian Lyrics

Catchiest song off the FHT album, in my opinion, it's about a guy who "walks" alone through life while everyone else "drives." He takes a longer time to get where he needs to be. Motorists jeer at him as they pass by. So the pedestrian has a much harder time than other people. Despite this, he is a pedestrian by choice, just because he feels like it ("I don't have a reason to be a misfit"). He is also a good guy who doesn't really get a lot of recognition, because he does good deeds in a quiet way, such as not polluting the environment with a car ("Pedestrian is what I am, an understated samaritan"). The last line ("I did my time, well, now it's time to go") is key. He has to stop and wait for his turn to cross the street while others pass him and get their rewards first, but he's patient and takes whatever life throws at him with ease until it's his time. |

I love the repeat chorus, it's very upbeat for such a depressing song. Really, it's just about staying up all night and contemplating suicide because your life sucks. The future seemed so bright before, but because you're a loser with no ambition, everything is messed up, and now you have nothing to look forward to. |

This song is about being uncomfortable around other people and only feeling good when you're alone. In your garage (or bedroom), you can just be yourself, with your weird posters, and just write, sing, and hang out with no one else to make fun of you. |

To me, this song is about sitting in front of your computer all night, and being depressed as hell about your shitty life. |
