| I love this song...it's quite self-explinatory, though...the woman met this really amazing guy and they may have fallen in love but she doesn't think she deserves to be with him as she's probably vulnerable because of all her previous relationships and her life's experiences...So she just thinks of herself as a human wreck and feels as if she has nothing left to give o the other person...so she let him go...she thinks she's so generous and thoughtful but in fact she's just afraid of being hurt again... | |

This song is so...there's so many emotions in it. And those words... my favourite lines like, for example: 'If nothing is safe then I don't understand You call me your boy but I'm trying to be the man' (it's like the girl isn't convince that he's ready for a relationship but he says he's trying to come up to her expectations) or: 'And if all we've got is what no one can break' (so if it is that way, they may be sure that they'll be ok and they won't fall apart)... Did I mention how much I adore this song? |

| The 'prostitute theory' is rather good and it fits but I guess that another fitting theory is that...there's this boy who loves her so much but she doesn't see it or rather-doesn't want to see it. And she is the one who is all fucked-up and insecure and she is so desperately trying to avoid getting hurt that she misses the best thing that may ever happen to her in her life-him. So she just goes out and makes out with all this guys for whom she actually feels nothing but she keeps going on that way, even though she's not happy (trying convince herself that she is), because she doesn't see how things can be different for her and she's so afraid though she won't admit it. And he waits for her, maybe sometimes he actually is with her ('I’ve had you so many times but somehow I want more') but she always runs away from him as soon as she realizes that she also feels something for him. this song is so meaningful for me...and maybe it's just my own interpretation but I think it's about someone who hates to show what they feel and avoid any commitments connected with being with another person as they're afraid of getting hurt (it's so much...my style). They are with someone and they're probably happy but that person still feels insecure and is trying to find some reasons for break-up ('started looking for a warning sing'/'I started looking for excuses')...and because of it, just because of the way they are, they lose this one person who probably was the one ('That you were an island and I passed you by, You were an island to discover.') But now...it's just nothing they can do about it cause it's all gone and that was their fault. |

I just really adore this track and how perfectly i can fit myself in to this lyrics. As for me, the beginning it's a little bit ironic: 'Just because I'm losing Doesn't mean I'm lost Doesn't mean I'll stop Doesn't mean I would cross Just because I'm hurting Doesn't mean I'm hurt Doesn't mean I didn't get What I deserved No better and no worse' it sounds like the performer is trying hard to convince himself that he's just fine and that everything in his life is ok. But he realizes that he is HURTING but he is also HURT no matter what he will say. And he is losing as well as he's LOST. And the 'big fish' part is not about his ex or anything it jus says that it's not something very big and impressing to 'be a big fish in a little pond' cause it's not really hard to be the best among the worst. It makes me want to try to be something better and something bigger in the real world, not in a 'little pond'. It's very motivating sond I guess and it gives hope that we can be crushed and lost and hurt but if we try a little harder and give a little more of ourselves we can heal ourselves... |

I'm amazed by their new album and this song is one of my favourite. But as for me, it's about how the world is changing, changing so fast that we have to be careful not to overlook the most important things. And it's also about how fast the time is passing by and that we shoul "live our lives" and make the best of them because the one moment we can be here,being the best and so on: ('I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word(...) I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes) and the next we may no longer exist or just fall down (Listen as the crowd would sing, "Now the old king is dead, long live the king!")...so it's all about seizing the moment, I guess... |
