This song, to me, sounds like him messing up, and it being something to the effect of cheating/ sleeping around. He's trying his best to work through their problems and be a man about it, but more problems are created when she becomes stern on what she thinks and wants of him. Its hard to make anyone love you once, and it rarely works. But when it does, and you mess that up, its hard to make them see just how sorry you are, whatever it was you did to mess it all up. Great song, and has an amazing bridge at the end of the song. It tells a great story, and Usher's done it again yall! =) |

This song is what rap should be like today. It sends a clean message to everyone, and shows us just how hard life really gets. This song makes me think of all the adversity I go through everyday, and I cant lay down because of it. Without my Lord and Savior, I wouldnt be here fighting today. I can relate to this song, from beginning to end. My Mom is someone that Ive called very judgemental and harassing. Everyone has seen someone like that, and this song makes me think about how angry she makes me to sit back and judge someone that she knows nothing about. Dont judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. This song is raw, and speaks the truth about how the world really is. Absolutely one of the most emotional and moving songs Ive ever listened to. I heard it on an episode of Scrubs, and the song fit perfectly in with the story behind everything. In my opinion, it makes me think about trying to help someone, and them rejecting it. And somewhere between the madness of it all, you ask yourself how you can really save this person.
Ive had this happen to me many times, and I still ask myself how I can reach a lot of people, and no matter how hard I try it doesnt seem to work. At times, I feel like giving up, but I wont. The opinions heard about this being about relationships ending, drug addiction, and some of the others, it all ties together in some way, shape, or form once you look at it.
We all have someone that we've tried to save emotionally, I do right now at this moment in my life. But sometimes there's nothing you can say or do, all we can do is be there and hope that they open their eyes to whats in front of them. This is a great song, and makes me think so much about the person Im trying to help. The album is really good too... |

Like half if not more of the people commenting this song, I heard this song from the Scrubs episode "My Screw Up". One of the most amazing shows created, and I cant thank my twin brother for introducing me to both Scrubs and Joshua Radin. This song makes me think of a girl Im in love with, and it never fails to make me smile a little each time because of it. It also makes me miss her so much. Anyways, Joshua's album is amazing, and I recommend it to everyone. |

This is one of those songs that has a lot of hidden meanings. It could be about the war and corruption of the world right now. It could be for the nation that fears everyone, not knowing what will happen next. Also, they dont know who to trust, in a time where we all need to come together. Im kinda scratching my head on this one, but Im very interested to know the meaning behind the song. It has a great kick to it. |

I watched a live, private show that someone had recorded in Atlanta, one week before the album came out. Brent performed this song last, and before the first chord was struck, he said that he wrote this song for his son. The video is up on YouTube if you guys wanna check it out. Its an amazing song, and I love the words and the passion Brent sings with. He's one in a million in a business full of stiffs. |

I feel the song is about the end of a long, sought out relationship. And he knows that for closure, he has to hear it from her. This is an amazing song. Hopefully they'll bring out an acoustic version of a few of their songs, like they did for 45 and Burning Bright. That would be amazing stuff. |

First off, I agree with art85..This album is a must for anyone who enjoys a good rock album..From start to finish, this album delivers in every way possible...
Now, as far as the song meaning for me, I agree with Plums72...It does seem like he's giving a eulogy for someone that he knew "more than most" as Brent sings in the beginning. As if the world judged the person he knew so well, and he was shaming them all for judging his life.
That relates to me a lot, because I have more judges trying to dictate my life than a little bit...As bad as my life is now, I could definitely use 2 packs of cigarettes and some of Kentucky's finest whisky.. |
