| I never though I'd analyze this song but when you look at it, it's pretty obvious. The song is about him, the runner (spencer krug i believe), and his constant struggle against his inner, natural self who is the "father's son". The numbers on him are odds, that he will make it as a recording artist, the high noon sun is the place where he will be recognized as that artist, so basically, odds are against him. The father's son or inner self sees the other as foolish for trying to be a hero at night, playing shows or whatever, and taunts him with his title of morning hero, casting doubts into the runner. The stolen voice part is an insult to the runner from the father's son, spencer krug and dan boeckner both having very distinctive singing voices. The father's son will basically mock the runner forever with his found security and play down the runner's life and success as foolish. | |
