Cold War Kids – We Used to Vacation Lyrics 17 years ago
its a dad, he fucked up because he's an alcoholic, still he hopes it will all blow over in time, thats just the booze and hope talking. he promised them he'd change. but we all know how that goes. things could be much worse. natural disasters. but still, its bad shit for him and the fam. the thought of mixin a gin and slipping into oblivion is too tempting and so sweeet.

Polar Bear Club – Convinced I'm wrong Lyrics 17 years ago
Hes look for salt in a snow globe, what he had is slipping fast. That could mean a lot of things, but its easy to find something in your own life that it fits into. Thats why its a good song. I like how he says " I guess Im an artist, whose confines brought him luck, chocked by second guessing." I take this to mean, he supposes his songwriting and singing, makes him someone who is popularly thought of as an artist eventhough hes just some guy, and the confines of his ability have brought him luck, meaning that the fact that he cant just create songs of any genre and style have lead him to make songs such as his own but that has brought him luck, as people like the songs he and the rest of PBC have written, even though he is always second guessing whether or not what he writes is good or not. ( im just speculating, it sounds good thouigh right?) but he 'know[s] thats not enough." nothing ever is.

Polar Bear Club – Another night in the rock Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with the person above. But also, considering some of these guys live in Rochester, NY, sometimes called the ROC, among other things, it might be a play on that, saying its basically another lonely night in Rochester, the Rock, but since a rock is a cold, hard place (so is rochester) it translates well into meaning just that. Also I think the story of the song is he saw a girl, probably before a show, and he also made a face at her, but she was surprised....also, he stayed up painting...but then it gets a little abstract

Silent Majority – Polar Bear Club Lyrics 17 years ago
Some one once said to Jimmy Stadt, lead singer of PBC, that girls wouldn't like Polar Bear Club's music because it's too agressive. He said this at live show, the footage is on You Tube, and he said something along the line of "I think a lot of the girls here tonight would disargee." I gather this is all about that. Theres a lawyer with two daughters. They like PBC or music like it, he doesnt and he doesnt understand why the singer scream and growl but as Jimmy explains "When [he] sings, it certainly...it isn't for...wasn't machismo, not intimidation, no, gender segregation, no. [he] just needed more from the words [he] sang" but you, the lawyer, couldnt understand. Keep in mind that he says 'burt according to you,' the lawyer ' our songs should separate, all the girls from the boys" hes not sayin they should, hes sayin the lawyer thinks they should. but mr lawyer, hes not the point.
