| Echo and the Bunnymen – The Killing Moon Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I had an interesting experience with this song, I was part of a spiritual ritual during the new moon, and a couple of days after it my clairvoyant spiritual teacher pointed out that I seemed to not be willing to let go of my past. Shortly after that the melody of the chorus of this song popped into my head, I did not know the words so I looked it up: "Fate up against your will Through the thick and thin He will wait until You give yourself to him" My interpretation is that this was a message to me that in order to fulfill my spiritual destiny I need to stop resisting it with my will, but God/Jesus will wait patiently through the ups and downs of my life (ie: through the thick and thin) until I give myself to him to be his servant. I know it's probably a different message than the artist intended but I thought it was worth sharing. As for what the artist probably intended, when I read all of the lyrics it appears that it is probably a song about someone who broke his heart in the end. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Soul Meets Body Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This is what the song means to me, it is a spiritual interpretation and maybe not exactly what was intended by the artist, but this is what I hear when I listen to it: I want to live where soul meets body := I want to live in balance between spirit and body And let the sun wrap its arms around me := and embrace and see what is good and warm in the world (he might also consider his girlfriend to be like the sun since she is warm and affectionate too possibly) And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing := this is like a baptism which is a spiritual cleansing or re-birth (think amniotic fluid) And feel, feel what it's like to be new - after being reborn he wants to approach life as a new person experiencing everything for the first time again (this is very spiritual, some forms of buddhism try to attain this kind of state of mind in life) "Because in my head there's a Greyhound station Where I send my thoughts to far-off destinations So they may have a chance of finding a place Where they're far more suited than here" - I like a former poster's idea that this is sending thoughts into the future to manifest since the 'seeds' of these thoughts need some time before they can bloom, this idea is kinda like the spiritual law of attraction where you focus on what you want for the future and thus manifest it in your future. "I cannot guess what we'll discover When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels" := when we purify ourselves, overcome our base desires/thoughts, unhealthy addictions, etc., we can't guess what treasures we'll discover" "But I know our filthy hands can wash one another's And not one speck will remain" := we can help better each other and in the end reach our goal of spiritual purity. "I do believe it's true, That there are roads left in both of our shoes" - both of them still have paths in life to 'walk' "But if the silence takes you Then I hope it takes me too" - I think a former poster is correct that he is saying if she dies he wants to die with her. "So, brown eyes, I'll hold you near, Because you're the only song I want to hear, A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere" - he loves her and is commited to her and doesn't want to be with anyone else, he loves her 'song', her vibration, her 'melody'. I have loved this song since the first time I heard it, I like it even better now that I know what he means when he says 'If the silence takes you then I hope it takes you too' that is beautiful. |
