| I agree with WayToBlue, it's always struck me as being about being a good father, the imagery of being tucked into bed and sung to, and of him doing up someone's coat, really invokes this for me. The sense of it very strongly reminds me of My Girls by Animal Collective, he wants to make everything better for his child, a "bigger boat" and a "brighter day". | |

I get the impression that this is about a relationship that ended because Caleb just wanted to party whilst she wanted more, but now Caleb regrets being so caught up in having a good time and wants her back. It was Caleb's fault the relationship ended, "even though it was me who drove us right in the ground", because he was "dreaming of revelry", he didn't really want to get too serious. He only now realises what he had, "the loss of the good thing that i had found" but he carries on partying hard so that he doesn't have to think about it, "so high, i don't want to come down to face the loss" My opnion anyway =]. One of my favourites off the album, sounds like it'll be amazing live, can't wait to see them in December. |

I actually think this is about a one night stand "She's opening up just like she really knows me" kinda gives that impression and how he talks about how she's drunk and he's 'forgotten' that she's 17. Convenient ;]. Especially if we're going by American laws about the age of consent. Absolutely fantastic song as well, as is all of their stuff. Gotta love KOL. Really looking forward to Only By The Night. |
