| i think this song, like many other late elliott songs are trying to talk about how he isn't such a depressed person in reality. I've heard a show when someone shouts out "Needle in the hay" and he returns with "no needle in the hay is too depressing, too much drug imagery, which is not what the songs are about but it is a vehicle for talking about independence." I think he just uses drug imagery, or depressing topics to help the main topic of the song. | |
