| Spring Awakening – Whispering Lyrics

This song is precisely about how so often sex is portrayed as an evil, sinful, disguisting essence, and how truly wrong that is. "History, Little miss didn't do right, Went and ruined all the true plans, Such a shame, such a sin". This, I believe, is referring to Eve, the woman who created the first sin, and then became shameful of her body, and how naturally everyone assumed that it is wrong to be free with your body, your one true posession. No one wants to accept her, or what she feels right, even if it is love. "Fumbling mutely with their rude hands, And there's heartache without end" could refer to how sex is now grabbed out for people looking for a quick release, and no emotional comfort. Truly, truly, a beautiful piece of musical theatre. |

| Spring Awakening – Those You've Known Lyrics

In so many ways does this song bring inspiration. It is about how you should mourn for the deceased and long gone, but that you should take them with you, in spirit at least. So many times in life the people around you are gone, leaving, and it can almost bring you to the point of suicide (as in the case of Melchior), but you have to geep pressing onward, if not for yourself, then for them, and the ones that care about you. |

| Spring Awakening – The Song Of Purple Summer Lyrics

This song is completely about bridging the gap between adolescence and adulthood, and good job on catching the season metaphor. But the lyrics are not just some random stew of vegetables. The idea of corn is that no matter what happens corn will stay standing, even if it is dead and there are no ears in it, creating an adamant figure in the subtext. And as you know, vegetables go in and out of season, just as everything else. And yes the Purple Summer is a flower that blooms in summer instead of spring. The main meaning behind this song is that although there are trials and tribulations throughout life, things will become good again, no matter how sad. |

This piece is about how Melchior is struggling to bridge the gap between manhood and adolescence. He is also growing increasingly frustrated that no one understands him, and that he has questions that can never be answered. There just seems to be some deeper calling that he can't quite grasp. |

| Spring Awakening – The Guilty Ones Lyrics

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of musical theatre ever written. this particular song is about the aftermath of how the two main characters had sex, and their feelings upon it. They felt the passion of each others bodies, and felt love, and passion, and they are almost in shock to what happened still. They say their bodies are the guilty ones because they themselves do not feel guilty. But their bodies are the only things that have any form of change on them. No one can understand the way they feel about each other, and no one should contest them. |

| Spring Awakening – The Dark I Know Well Lyrics

Both of the lead singers have been physically and sexually abused by their fathers, giving them some common ground. The "Dark" she knows well is the evil in humanity, and it is quite disturbing how she already knows of it, but it just furthers the motif of this piece that adults are often much worse than teenagers. When they start speaking in third person to no one in particular (It's just you and me. Child, you're a beauty) they are referring to how their fathers and other adult figures attempt to sweet talk them to fulfill their own lust. |

Now although this song is heavily influenced about masterbation and the sexual tension of schoolboys, it is also about many other aspects of life that truly makes it a bitch. The unknowing of a better good, the lack of god, and having to deal with it without being able to change it all have a good deal to do with it. |

This is partially about how his father had a great influence on him taking his own life. However it also speaks of how his life was filled with turmoil outside of school, and how he was truly disguisted with life. But the main thing you should take from this is that he would not be forgotten, and that maybe everyone will learn from his mistakes. |

there isn't much to the explanation of this song. It is basically a beautiful piece in which their thoughts are set on the idea of everything ending up for the better. Many people could tell them what they are doing is wrong, however, they know that if it feels so right it can't be that bad. |

It is quite stunning how the amazing contrast can be amazing when combined. Yes he is suicidal, and she does have hope, but there is much more deepy rooted in their speech. She is almost the wisened character of this musical, seeing as she has been through almost every form of abuse, and yet still has the courage to press on with life and try to find some happiness. But no matter how hard she tries to convince him that life is worth living, he is set on taking his own life. |

That is precisely correct, but the most meaningful lines are more often overlooked, such as the last one (And then there were none) and these are preceded by "Another day of utter shit", which marks the point where he decides to carry out his own suicide. But beautifully put you guys. |

I do believe that this song may look as though it is one of pain, however, too many times we overlook how truly passionate it can be. When he referrs to himself being a bruise, and to bruise, he only means that he is going to leave an impression on her, one physical, but one emotional, and that one will be much deeper. They are only afraid of what they do not know, and have only heard what their parents tell them, therefore they can only assume that the worst will in fact be beautiful and terrible at the same time. |

This song is not so much about sex itself, but the lack thereof. Just human contact of any sort is thought to be highly restricted in that time period, so they crave it endlessly. Also, I believe that when he speaks of the place he goes (Where I go, when I go there, no more whispering anymore) he is talking of that small patch of paradise experienced when acting upon your erotic instincts. And lets not forget, this entire song is basically a cry for some sort of contact, and there really isn't more to look into in that area. But that's just what I believe. |
