I'm not sure if anyone posted this or not, but In my opinion, Kurt(?) chose to cover this song because he was likely premeditating his demise for a while, and he had just come to terms with what he was going to do. (The song was put out roughly a year before he died.) |

I agree with your interpretation of the song, I also think the lyrics were unlisted and distorted to go in tune with the uncertainty of death. I also think it leaves a bit of mystery to the end of our 'hero's' journey, and perhaps it was done to also leave the audience wondering if he's planted the crystal skull at the top of blood mountain before perishing. |

To explain the lines
"times of sailing
keep me grounded,'
In the age of sail, all sailors on a ship were usually male. This being kept in mind, this could be a love song, the 'times of sailing' prevent contact from a loved one, thus keeping the relationship 'grounded,' that is, unable to progress. |

This song has nothing to do about piracy lol. Tending the topsails for square rigger, like being placed on the bow of modern yachts is oftentimes a dangerous and chaotic job. Irish Chris probably has the meaning bang on. |

Great song, I'm not english student, but I'm taking a stab in the dark and saying this is about the death/murder of someone? and does anyone know what KHTDR itself means? |
