Yeah, it could definitely be about the economy. But I'm still not sure. & everytime I think about "Heavy Boots" I think of the Mafia giving people cement shoes to drown them... Heh. Metaphor? Am I totally off? Awesome song, regardless. |

| Frijid Pink – House Of The Rising Sun Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Love this song. I can't decide if the house is his home with his messed up family, a casino, or a whorehouse. Other than specific details, it's pretty self explanatory. He screwed up his life in New Orleans. He tried to run away, but his problems followed him. So he's... stuck. |

| Tally Hall – Ruler of Everything Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Lyrics with the new MMMM: Juno was mad; He knew he'd been had So he shot at the sun with a gun Shot at the sun with a gun Shot at his wily one only friend In the gallows or the ghetto In the town or the meadow In the billows Even over the sun Every end of a time Is another begun You understand Mechanical hands Are the ruler of everything (ahh!) Ruler of everything (ahh!) I'm the ruler of everything In the end Do you like how i dance? I've got zirconium pants! Consequential enough To slip you into a trance Do you like how i walk? Do you like how i talk? Do you like how my face Disintegrates into chalk? I have a wonderful wife I have a powerful job She criticizes me for being egocentric (ha) You practice your mannerisms Into the wall If this mirror were clearer I'd be standing so tall I saw you slobber over clovers on the side of the hill I was observing the birds Circle in for the kill I've been you I know you Your facade is a scam You know you're making me cry This is the way that I am I've been living a lie A metamorphical scheme Detective undercover brotherhood Objective: obscene Oh no, no Oh yeah Do you hear the flibbity jibbity jibber jabber With an oh my god I've got to get out of here or I'll have another Word to sell Another story to tell Another time piece ringing the bell Do you hear the clock stop when you reach the end No You know it must be neverending Comprehend if you can But if you try to pretend to understand You resemble a fool Although you're only a man So give it up and Smile You understand Mechanical hands Are the ruler of everything Ruler of everything I'm the ruler of everything In the end Without looking down Gliding around Like a bumbling dragon I fly Scraping my face on the sky Oh no, no Oh yeah Tally Hall! I love you! |

| Cold War Kids – Passing the Hat Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I don't think he is necessarily an immigrant. He's definitely poor ("ragged coat sleeve"), and I think just a guy who's had a hard life, had to resort to criminal ways. He's ashamed, and wants to start out new. "All of the reasons that stealing has led me to leave". He steals one last time from the church so he can leave America. "I bought my ticket" Or maybe he was an immigrant, thought America would be awesome, and was completely wrong and wants to go home. |

| Cold War Kids – Tell Me in the Morning Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think this is a breakup song, or they had a fight at least. After she leaves ("now that she's gone") he looks back at what went wrong. Probably the girl was fed up, didn't want to put this conversation off any loner, she was upset and wanted to guy to say something! "I shouted questions like a fist fight you tried to take me by the arms lead me to the light I'm almost over worrying over" That makes me think that maybe he was going to do something stupid, and she was trying to help him out, make the right decision and see that he's wrong, but he was too stubborn. (Or the God theory fits extremely well). "Broke the lock and pried it open Then pretend to be stolen I am my own thief in the night" I think that's saying he lost his words, he can't really think of something to say. Fantastic song. |

| Tally Hall – Smile Like You Mean It Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Tally Hall owns. I love how they sing it so sweetly, while it seems pretty ironic since the lyrics are so sad. | |
