I really like this song. Really good way to finish up the album. I also think that it is kind of going on with Coldplay's "theme" for this album.... Life and Death. The whole album is about conflict and an "afterlife of some sort" Notice how many songs say "Now my feet wont touch the ground" I think this one sums it up. "and in the end, we lie awake and we dream of makeing our escape" I think this is talking about death (in the end) and how we just are ready to leave this godawful world(dream of making our escape) Im not normally a spiritual guy but I think the goes on with "Viva la Vida!! (Long live Life!) |

its definately not about school shootings. its about the war in the middle east. when it makes a reference to doors.. "Through this doorway, What's on the other side? Never knowing exactly what I'll find. Locked and loaded, voices screaming "Let's Go!"" that is talking about a fire team trying to take a building. when its says "never knowing whats on the other side" its talking about insurgents that could possibly be on the other side. "locked and loaded, voices screaming, 'lets go!' is the team preping to storm the room... i know its lame but a good example is "charlie dont surf" from call of duty: modern warfare. thats what they are talking about |

LOVE THIS SONG!! obviously about a man who was severialy injured in combat. "land mine, has taken my SIGHT, taken my SPEACH, taken my HEARING.. taken my ARMS taken my LEGS, taken my SOUL.. left me with life in hell." -he lost his arms and his legs.. deaf blind and dumb. and he wants to just die sad song but rocks |

i love the new album and this song.. but this is a very complicated song to understand. i agree that it has to do with war. but not just our current one but in general. i dont think it is ripping on our government as much though. when it says "suffocate your own empire." i think it is implying that these people have been fighting for thousands of years and they are screwing themselfs. not as much it is our fault. not saying i agree with the war.. but i belive in our troops. god bless america |
