| Bloc Party – Real Talk Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Lyrics from the official site (http://four.blocparty.com): Can we get real for a moment? You’re my one and only friend Watch the sunset from your sedan Let your hand rest on mine I’ve lived in every town But here is where I find home My mind is open And my body is yours Show me the sign Please I was so sure, I was faulty And not able to love But then you crept up on me While I was dreaming Whispered love into my ear If you’re tired I can drive us We can go back To my place My mind is open And my body is yours Show me the sign Please |

| GZA/Genius – B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I find it weird that GZA would let someone rap an entire song on his own solo album??? Oh well, he wrote the amazing lyrics...and that's what matters...so yeah... His Five Percenter beliefs definitely shine through here. Mentions of sect of the swine, Tribe of Edam, Cesare Borgia and Pope Alexander indicate that this is not mainstream Christianity he is speaking of, but actually it was what he grew up questioning. Whatever your beliefs, his dedication to his religion and spirituality ('I studied till my eyes was swollen, and only arose when I found out that we were the chosen') is clearly evident. As pagen_hd said, this final track is definitely the only 'warm' song on the record. It has a markedly different feel to the rest, and I consider it a classic. |

| (+44) – Chapter 13 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
When he mentions, 'I'm scraped and sober, but there's no one listening to me at all', it got me thinking about the Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step recovery program. These alcoholics go through all these steps and emerge out of rehab and then what? Chapter 13...life moves on. What does an addict do when he's supposedly 'cured' of his addiction? How disheartened would you feel if you recovered from something like alcoholism or drug addiction, and no one was there to support you or to hear how well you're doing now that you've kicked the habit? I haven't checked this idea with all of the lyrics, but I thought it was a point worth bringing up :) |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Kurt Cobain was very anti-Hollywood and against that kind of mainstream culture, as evidenced by the type of music he created (grunge), which was exploited by record labels and MTV and packaged into something for the masses. The lines 'Cobain can you hear the spheres, singing songs off station to station' basically mean that the singer is informing Kurt of how his music has become part of the pop culture, on every radio station. And he can do nothing about it now, because he's dead. RIP Kurt... |

| Queens of the Stone Age – You Got a Killer Scene There, Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song is just pure sex, so dirty, so rock and roll (despite the line 'I hate rock and roll). Yes, he is talking about the 'scene' and all that, but his vocals and the music is just screaming for it to be played in a stripclub. No surprise that it appeared on Season 3 of Californication in a stripclub scene... Favourite lines? 'Don't wanna love you no more Don't wanna love you less I wanna be crushed by your sweet caress' |

| Drake – Best I Ever Had Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
So true man! when you watch the music video, he's coaching a women's basketball team, and midway through, the music stops and it's while he's giving a team talk in the locker room. In the middle of this impassioned speech to all of them (saying how believes in them etc etc) one of the girls is like 'Hey yo Drake, I'm the best yo, right?' and eventually all the girls start asking him if they're the best. The 2nd interpretation seems right then... |
|
| Drake – Say What's Real Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This guy sounds like a slicker, smoother, more comprehensible version of Lil Wayne. THE NEXT BIG THING...oh yeah, and he can SING... The song pretty much sums up his feelings about the music business and his transition from 'fitting in to standing out'. His family is also feeling a bit unsure about his rise to fame, such as in the 6th verse, where his mother doesn't want him to park his fancy car at their family home. The beat comes from Kanye West's 'Say You Will', and its minimalist sound allows Drake to just dominate the track...no chorus, just verse after verse. I'm thoroughly impressed... |
|
| Kanye West – Breathe In, Breathe Out Lyrics | 16 years ago |

the PHD part is hilarious! Kanye is a fucking GENIUS! And the beat is soooo good, Luda adds to the chilled vibe on the chorus. Gotta love it... |
|
| Flo Rida – Low Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Immortal Technique WILL change any person's view on the shallowness of rap. The thing is, he's on an underground label, so unlike mainstream shit like this, his message gets drowned out. | |
| Eminem – Underground Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I'm a fan of Eminem's earlier stuff, like before Encore and my fav is definitely Slim Shady LP, so unless his new shit's like that, I'm not particularly interested. It's embarrassing to hear some of the stuff he's done on Encore and on most of Relapse (accents, childish lyrics, sing-song choruses, WTF???). However, I'm glad when he's back to his manic self, and this song is crazy...any doubters should have a listen to this and wait expectantly for Relapse 2. The song itself takes a lot of the lyrical content of Relapse, removes the stupid accents and tightly hones the flow...plus adds a little old school Shady style...and gives you the best song on the record. Rather him be genuinely funny and disgusting (like here), than lame, unfunny and disgusting(most of his recent output)...it just sits better with the listener |

| 3OH!3 – Colorado Sunrise Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it's really good, quite self-depreciating. shows that he's comfortable with stating how he's fucked up so many times before. and people mostly count things on their fingers... | |
| 3OH!3 – Starstrukk Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| why's it a shame? not every song has to have squeaky-clean lyrical content. it's just who they're are, deal with it | |
| Asher Roth – I Love College Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| people are taking this song seriously! it's cataloguing a normal college student's lifestyle (maybe embellishing it a bit...) and ShikamaruXXX, have a listen to his other stuff, he's got good flow and interesting lyrics. not everything has to be fucking Shakespeare to be good | |

| Immortal Technique – Crimes of the Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |

a few lines that speaking to me right now (it's pretty obvious what this song is about, just read the lyrics): 'cause the real New York is the pain and the suffering of lost love staring off into the distance in the mist of the club depression and emptiness that leads to suicide and the struggle inside of yourself that keeps you alive surviving Medicaid and stalked by sobriety the life you live now, tortured by memories violently' dude...Immortal Technique, hip hop's greatest lyricist. | Lady GaGa – Just Dance Lyrics | 16 years ago |

a good song doesn't necessarily have to have a lot of meaning, or have much symbolism. let's all get off our high horses now, this song is still good, regardless of what it means. you gotta look at the whole song, music and all. |

| Keane – She Has No Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's incredible, this song speaks of the exact same feelings that I'm feeling in my relationship (maybe not as extreme). We both don't have much time for each other (her more so than me) and it's really been getting to me lately. Sometimes I ask myself if she really cares about me, but the line in 2nd verse, 'And she can hardly breathe without you', makes me realise that she probably does, but struggles to show it because (drum roll please) SHE HAS NO TIME (for me, for her, for anyone really). Keane is amazing, I'm a huge fan of their music. And this song and it's relevance to my current situation has made me even more of a fan. Bravo... |
|
| Bloc Party – Talons Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
'When did you become such a slut?' Proof that this song is about sex/AIDS/promisciuity... The lyrics are difficult to gather when listening to the song, Kele's vocals can be quite weird. But, being a huge fan of Bloc Party, I know that one should always judge their songs after actually reading the lyrics |
|
| Bloc Party – Ion Square Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song is just pure beauty...wow...play this whilst having sex :) | |
| Bloc Party – Better Than Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think by looking at the title, he's implying that what he provides/believes (faith and emotions) is 'better' than the 'heaven' she studies so vigourously (the cold hard facts)...just realised this now | |
| Immortal Technique – You Never Know Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Sorry I meant 'guitar', instead of 'piano'. They sound quite similar on this song! | |
| Immortal Technique – You Never Know Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I thought Dance with The Devil was his best story, but this just shows how versatile he is. The music and beat are just incredible, I loved the piano in it. It seems as if the endings of his songs have the most important messages, and this song proves that: What happened for the rest of the day is still a blur But I remember wishing that I was dead, instead of her She was buried on August 3rd The story ends without a sequel And now you know why Technique don't fucking fall in love with people Hold the person that you love closely if they're next to you The one you love, not the person that'll simply have sex with you Appreciate them to the fullest extent, and then beyond Cause you never really know what you got, until it's gone Powerful stuff... |
|
| Immortal Technique – Dance With The Devil Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i heard this song the first time I smoked weed and couldn't have chosen a more scary, intense song to be part of that experience. it's just so hard-hitting, so sad, so real (even if the possibility of mistakenly having sex with your own mother is really small). I'm just blown away the lyrics. This song, plus The 4th Branch, has now got me interested in Immortal Technique, he's a lyrical genius | |
