This is my favourite Radiohead song. It kind of takes you through a journey of his emotions. I like how unconventional this song is, It really couldn't be put into any genre. |

I was surprised when I realised that if you substited "angel of death" to creeping death that it's almost directly ripped of from the bible. The entire Ride the lightning album seems to be ripped of books. I guess their music holds it own even if their lyrics are a little weak. |

I think this song is about being judged and it's expressed through a nightmare. The first and second guitar solos are just amazing. Any band that trys to make a song faster and heavier than this is just wasting their time. |

This song sounds kind of poppy compared to the rest of the album and the lyrics are very different for metallica but one of my favourites. |

I think it's interesting how this song has hardly any lyrics although they are good. I absolutely love the classical interludes in this song. |

| Missy Higgins – The sound of white Lyrics

I remember Missy doing this song for the tsunami relief concert at the opera house. She's was such a tiny lady who looked really sad so I was really amazed to hear how strong her voice was in this song. I reckon it's her best song. I reckon the "sound of white" is just a metaphor for "good things" or white meaning pure or perhaps even light. |

I always thought this song was about the police and I have thought so for years however now looking into it, could it be a song about chastidy, if it were i'm sure they wouldn't admit it. |

This song is about lack of trust in a relationship maybe it also seems suggestive that he has used drugs as an escape. The song makes me think I'm on drugs when I listen to it and I think that's the way they intended it. |

This is my favourite gunners song by far. I like his clear voice and how he shifts voice tones so many times in this song. Some parts sound a little bit David Bowie. The guitar interludes are just awesome. It's about a broken heart and suicide I think. This song was once quoted in the newspaper as causing a teenage girls suicide because the lyrics are sad and depressing. |

| The Killers – The Ballad of Michael Valentine Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
I hated this song from the moment I heard it and then it grew on me cause I couldn't figure out what he was on about and I still don't know but her is some insight.
Michael plays with stars - perhaps a reference to pagans or astrologers.
Soul sister - mormon women are all called sisters.
I also found by accident a book on the death of JFK's brother and on the back of the book cover it mentions "the killers" several times, this is no doubt where they got their name from and not the Alfred Hitchcock poem.
It's also interesting that on the last few pages of the book it mentions, "Ruby Valentitne". And Ruby is the next song on the album and also involved with the shooting. Michael Valentine could also be a reference to "Ruby Valentine" so the songs are no doubt linked although probably should have been left as unreleased material because it's still nowhere near as good as their first album. |

| The Killers – Smile Like You Mean It Lyrics

This some triggers so many of my memories. I think he's kind of watching over his home town watching the younger generation doing the same things that he did when he was younger. I think he's kind of saying that the streets he used to go down are still the same but the people have changed and his best advice is to just smile like you mean it. |

| The Killers – Andy, You're a Star Lyrics

This song sounds so much better live. I think he's written this to mean everything and anything but possibly he's saying he'll go out with whatever girl he wants to and isn't scared of being called gay if he chooses to knock certain girls back. Which I think is cool, I have been suspected of being gay for not going out with certain girls and I don't care. I would rather be alone and happy and called gay than go out with someone to keep everyone else happy. I think the "in nobodys eyes but mine" line suggests that his choice was not popular but at least someone out there thinks he's a star. |

| The Killers – All These Things That I've Done Lyrics

I think this song has something to do with mormonism and how certain sins can't be forgiven. He's pleading to god for help kind of and I think he's saying the mormons can't help him, they will just put him on the backburner. I think the word "backburner" means fireside which is a kind of get together for mormons that have quit or don't go to church. |

This is a song about trusting someone and being hurt although he admits it's his fault and is just winging about how bad life and love is, like in nearly all their songs they're either very happy or very sad. |

I think billy not only wrote this for his brother jesse but for anyone who is different that gets mocked. ie "mr jones" which is the most common name in the USA. I like the line we wont belong. Cause being a space boy what does he mean he wont belong cause he's different or he wont be long on earth? |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics

|
I remember when this was first on the radio all of my friends said it was the saddest song they had ever heard and I agree. I think it could he is going to smile at people while he disarms them. A smile puts a person at ease. Disarm meaning ripping their arms of or letting their guard down so he can kill them or whatever. |

This is my favourite song on "adore" written for his mother. I think it's also about lost loves and dead people in general and how if they do believe there is a heaven then he will see them again so there is no need to be sad about lost ones. |

| Nirvana – Polly Lyrics

I think it's about accidental abuse and how the victim gets their revenge. I say accidental because it's easy to forget the things you're not focussed on, in this instance a bird, polly. We all sometimes forget to feed our pets and we are sometime negligent towards humans if we aren't focussed on them. |

This song is about courtney.
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
I think that is a strange way of saying even though he's complaining about her advice he is in debt to her and wants to make it up to her somehow. |

I'm not sure what this song is about but the line "something in the way" kind of sounds like some kind of emotional pain or problem that is in the way - not something physical. Perhaps about how he's hooked on drugs, really not sure. |

| Nirvana – All Apologies Lyrics
|
Nirvana shouldn't be analyzed their songs are very vague. I think kurt did this deliberately to sometimes hide what he was really writing about. This is an interesting song being the last song on "in utero" the last about before his suicide.
What else should I be
All apologies
What else should I say
Everyone is gay
What else could I write
I don't have the right
What else should I be
All apologies
I think the first verse is telling everyone not to get offended he just has to write something and he wants to be himself even if he's not liked.
As for the "in the sun i feel as one" line, I've never looked into it but reading it now implies that he's not gay but will stick up for gays even if it offends people.
The "mary, marry" line sounds like he's screaming mary three times. Although in the guitar tab book it sais mary, marry, buried which is an interesting way of summing life up.
My favourite line is the last, "all in all is all we are" which I thought was "all we know is all we are" which is an excellent line although maybe not correct.
The aqua reference is also interesting because apparently kurt reckon he can remember when he was born and there was an aqua floor at the hospital. |
