I doubt the narrator isn't very bright, simply because: Well we don't understand Why you called in the National Guard When Uncle Sam is the one Who belongs in the exercise yard Seems like he'd be more of an educated guy. |

| Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare) (feat. MGMT & Ratatat) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Yeah so everybody going "Oh my god he's saying go do drugs etc and be happy" -- you're wrong. Like someone said, Cudi's stuff is actually pretty dark. "Tell me what you know about dreamin', dreamin' You don't really know about nothin', nothin' Tell me what you know about them night terrors every night 5 am cold sweats wakin' up to the skies Tell me what you know about dreams, dreams Tell me what you know about night terrors, nothin' You don't really care about the trials of tomorrow Rather lay awake in the bed full of sorrow" I believe this part is talking about the shit that comes out of smoking, doing drugs, drinking a lot of shit. You get cold sweats, you wake up in the night. And to some extent, I think the last two lines are talking about those who do that lifestyle -- like they don't try to go out and do what is really best and needed for their lives; instead they go and get high and try to ignore shit / their problems. And at the end: "Argh, Oh man, oh. Room's spinning, room's spinning. [unintelligible], Oh fuck. Oh my God, why did I drink so much and smoke so much? Oh, fuck. " I don't get why nobody talks about the ending. It's his realization that what he is doing isn't the best for himself and that he's being stupid. It doesn't end saying that he's going to change, it just ends saying that his lifestyle is bad for him -- but he very well might just end up continuing that lifestyle because it is hard for people to get out of it. And it corresponds even more to the music video at the end: he stumbles into the restroom all drunk and drugged up, then he sees himself on the ground (drunk and drugged out much as he is now, except worse off -- as in at a later point in that lifestyle). After he sees this, he hangs his head down in exhaustion and shame. Cudi is definitely going against all of this I think. |

Yeah only one person corrected it. The song is "Kid Nothing vs. The Echo Factor"...not Nothing Boy. What the hell is Nothing Boy? |

I think the song is alright. Mostly the reason I like it is the clever way they used the album title: "Goodness gracious, accusations... Started flying through the building, cruel as school children" |

I skipped all of the arguing but I'm posting about the song. Is it just me or does the ending ruin this song? Like, not the lyrics...but his voice. It becomes...like he's yawning? :( |

Man, Modest Mouse is by far my favorite band and I love basically ALL their music. And the Good News album is great... But I absolutely hate this song. |
