Slipknot – Snuff Lyrics 15 years ago
My shitty ex-boyfriend ended things with lyrics from this song. Some of them, anyways.
I've never heard a slipknot song before this one, so I'll just say right away that I have no knowledge of Slipknot or background information.
I'm also not going to try and find the meaning of it, since it already has a meaning for me.
I just noticed that nobody ever seems to pick on this line, and it's the one that really stands out to me, like just rings constantly in my head:
"I can't destroy what isn't there."
What isn't there? Love? The relationship? Her love? His? It just doesn't... fit. If he doesn't care, why is he so upset? If she doesn't care, why is he accusing her of loving him?
What isn't there, and what can't he destroy?

Yeah... every child is a narcissist because they cannot care for other people, they haven't developed that skill yet. "Excessive self-love": they're selfish. Yes, it denotes those things, but narcissism is basically excessive self-love, to the point where you cannot care for other people. That's what very very young children are like, because they simply haven't developed enough mentally not to be selfish.
I think you are getting caught up in the media portrayal of narcissism instead of the factual, psychological definition of it, and that's why you you don't understand what I mean--I can't see how else you wouldn't get it, your whole comment looks more like you are backing up my point than argueing it.

Psychopath and sociopath are synonyms, retard. They just keep changing what they call the condition because it becomes a mainstream insult. Actually they don't call it either of those things anymore, it's now referred to as "antisocial personality disorder". But thanks for the heads up that you're stupid, now I can ignore the rest of your comment. :)

It's rather obviously about being a psychopath. He can't really love or care, but he wants to, you know? Wants that kind of happiness. The "a child only colder" is a reference to narcissism I believe, often referred to as adults that are still children at heart, as every child is a narcissist, and narcissism is a key point of psychopathy.

And about the dreaming and sleeping and all that catie ness posted, yeah.
