I was going to say that it seemed to me about absolutely making someone better and more than they truly are, simply because that's what you need/want them to be. Sort of Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion... or She's All That :(. Or um.. Drive Me Crazy. |

I recently felt the deepest connection to this song when friends of mine came to me and told me that ever since I'd started dating my current boyfriend I seemed different. Not necessarily in a bad way, but apparently in a noticeable way that they didn't exactly like. I found myself asking "How am I different?" and I completely felt that they wouldn't be happy until they "came down on the winner's side." ...in the end I'm not friends with some of those people. |

| You know, I'm not quite sure why, but I always saw this song as from the point of view of someone who was the sort of "shy guy" that found someone who thought that they could make them a better person so to speak, their "savior." | |

I have the special edition with all the lyrics, and I'm pretty sure the line is "You'd cut off everyone you know, boy you'd tell 'em all where to go..." To me that line was sort of saying that he cut everyone who wasn't going along with him out of his life. That drinking essentially made him cut off his family and friends, and now they've done the exact same to him. I'm not sure what the line "Will angels dance.." means, though. Anyone have ideas? |
