There seems to be a lot of melancholy in this song. To me it refers to a couple, together for some time, perhaps one is going through a typical mid-life crisis, reminiscing about their past together (simplicity, adventure, fantacy, etc.) and the realisation of perhaps not having failed to leave a legacy behind...This is brillaint : "I want to be someone...Who someone would want to be". Make any sense? |

Thanks Richardzimmermann for that link. I had seen it before but forgotten about it. One can draw very similar parallels to the song 'Estonia' from the This Strange Engine album. I have no doubt that Steve Hogarth and the boys (when writing this) must have incredible empathy with disasters in which people are left to the devices of nature for their fate. Taken from Wikipedia : MS Estonia, previously MS Viking Sally (–1990), MS Silja Star (–1991), and MS Wasa King (–1993), was a cruiseferry built in 1979 at the German shipyard Meyer Werft in Papenburg. The ship's sinking in the Baltic Sea on September 28, 1994, claimed 852 lives and was one of the deadliest maritime disasters in the late 20th century. |
