Oingo Boingo – Little Girls Lyrics 17 years ago
aw who gives a damn anyway, i play this song around my pedophile friend all the time, lol we love it (note, I'm not a pedo... i think)

the song rocks, if for nothing else for the shock value of seeing five teenagers walking the street singing about pedophilia at the top of their lungs

"Little girl is just too little too little Too Little TOO LITTLE!!!!"

lol

amaising how peoples opinions on this song and cee-lo as a whole have changed since gnarles barkley has gotten big. lol, 2002 was filled with such simple minded mortals, wasn't it?

well, cee lo isn't allways strait forward, actually, most of the time he's prety cryptic.

even though everything above sounds right to me, that it probably is an uplifting song about positivity. i still cant shake this feeling of evil i get from the song. For me this is a good thing though. i'ma dark kind of person, and this song strikes a black chord in my soul. i love it!

Gnarls Barkley – Go-Go Gadget Gospel Lyrics 17 years ago
oh come on! did you even see the misic video? the chances of this being a gospel song are.. well, zero. I will say this though, when I moved out of mu house and went to college the very first thing i did was blast this song as loud as it could go, on repeat, for an hour while I exitedly unpacked. that was also the day I recieved my first citation for noise violation ^_^

Gnarls Barkley – Surprise Lyrics 17 years ago
eh? sorry, but I thing the last two comments are about as far off as a conservative texan in a pride parade. though down the line forthelove seems to be on point. "you can make belive I'm blind and from now I'll be just fine" doen't seem to be an atempt at denial, but a condemnation of it, like "you can pretend I don't know what I'm talking about, but the consequences will hurt you, not me"

as far as the whole third eye thing, yeah, maybe I could see that working, but why would an enlightened individual need to be told not to be surprised? wouldn't the song be like preaching to the pews?

If what you guys are saying is true, and cee-lo is infact talking about how somone who can see though society and gets isolated because of it, i would be much dissappointed in him, especialy after his song transformer from his first album. True enlightenment comes means being able to work with and above the system, not outside of it.

"Now the ending to every story is most enchanting.
Now whether it's heaven or hell I wear it well.
Please forgive me for rambling.
I just wanted y'all
to know that I don't know at all.
So when that big ol' smile ends up being just a disguise,"

"i've come to love the inevitable, and regaurdless of it's manifestation I'm going to be just fine, maybe what i'm saying makes no sence to you, but look. I don't have all the answers. i'm just saying, don't take anything at face value"

I always thought it was "never tell me who I have to be again" which would gowith the whole "killing striotypes" theory.

I'm actually also a "black dude with dreads" but because of my own personal ability to transform via understanding social constructs and moving beyond me, only someone who hadn't spoken a word with me would describe me as such.

anyway thats what i took from the song. a rebelion against social norms. But the song following his life sounds totally legitamate too.

Gnarls Barkley – Would-Be Killer Lyrics 17 years ago
hmmm, why not just take the song at face value? I mean, cee-lo seems pretty strait forward in this song, no extended metaphores as he usually does, a tone of song wich maches his "over the top" vocals and lyrics. i think he's just singing about that murderous feeling we all get when we're faced with an infuriating situation or person but have no real power to do anything about it.

the only thing that throws me is the second to laast line, I could never understand what he was saying and "high up ballanceing ballet" makes no sence to me what so ever, unless it's referring to being on the edge, in which case different lyrics would have suficed.

The Knife – You Make Me Like Charity Lyrics 17 years ago
hmmm, well it doesn't make me hot, but that could just be because i don't like girls, and small children voices singing scare me silly. But ui love the song in all it's darkness. To me, when they refer to a "she" i think of a nation, not a person. The first part of the song when a male sounding voice is speaking in second person, I think they're speaking of some nation's ability, or lack there of, rather, to stand up and protest. The second part in the first person point of veiw is the voice of the people who try to rouse their country men but fail. Finally the last part in the androgenous voice is an outsider looking at the situation from affar trying to make since of it all.

But damn I love this song!
