It's about shooting up heroin. Think about it. Blood on the Motorway. The verses are very ethereal and relaxing. "Breathe in the healing love of the universe, and breathe out the sickness which has taken you," is telling a heroin addict to bring in the bliss and get rid of their sickness, or withdrawal.
Ok... maybe it's not about heroin. But it kinda makes sense in a "heroin addicts experience states of consciousness not entirely dissimilar to that of a deeply meditative Buddhist monk" kind of way. |

So you excuse all of the religious wackos(many of whom, I should add, haven't taken any theology courses) that indoctrinate young people but chastise a metal band that doesn't force their music on anyone? Get a grip man. You're like one of those people that criticizes Tom Morello for spewing uneducated far-left liberal ideals.
I have to say that I agree with the lyrics to this song. And not because I was indoctrinated as a kid into being atheist. I came to the same conclusions as Robb Flynn long ago from thinking about things myself, rather than letting somebody tell me what to believe. |

This song has the unique ability to send chills down my spine. The only other song I can think of that can do that is Imagine by John Lennon. If everyone could just understand the wisdom of this song and Imagine the world would be such an amazing place. |

I'll concede that Vedder sides with Democrats for better or worse, as that is the truth. I came on here expecting people to be a little more level headed, years into the Bush administration. I sure as hell am not a Democrat but some of you so called "conservatives" drive me up a fucking wall. |
