the obvious meanin seems to be tht an incident occured & since he's been even more protective of this person he obviously cares for alot. it also reveals the slight insecurity that he knows he has, he worries alot, overprotective ("clingy" to some) but he's sayin he's not ashamed of caring THAT much and hopes that the girl knows he not wanting to be a "ball and chain" holding her back, its just the way he is, he is slightly scared of changed and worries about things he's not familiar with. i LOVE the lines "If you think I want to hold you back, you should know me better than that" it really is about understandin and knowing this person in order to understand that is intentions are good, he just really cares for the other person. |

i suppose this song is about the effects of this girls dad never bein around. it seems like shes with a person who treats her badly but stays with him because shes insecure, scared of being alone. i thought the lyrics wer "do you love him??" (mite not be) if so i rekon its sayin maybe u do or will... but on the other hand (&the more likely answer) is tht no she doesnt & she never will. the chorus "your heart is like a hand me down..." is saying that her love can go from person to person with no real sense of belonging or true attachment. |

to me the beginnin of this song is telling of how people come to another when they're upset, "I will replace the noise with silence instead" - that person will take their minds off all the thoughts buzzin around their head. to do this they have sex, however they want it, anything to take their mind off it - "If you like it violent We can play rough and tumble". "When you're in pieces Just follow the echo of my voice It's okay Tune into that frequency Don't fight your reflex Embrace the instinct You can feel your way To the burden we face in the end??" - here i think someone is convincing the upset person follow their sexual instincts. to the consequence that will come from it , a reality the writer puts at the end of this verse to point out the consequences of action which is usually ignored wen people get into this situation. the chorus makes me think that the writer is against this tendency to casual sex when feeling low. it breaks his heart how people need "love" (sex), and dont go through the usual processes of real love. "pleasure for pleasure..."- this verse talks of how this sex is pureley physical to get kicks, its a temptation people are weak to. "the past is weakness" talks of the persons sexual histories, he asks them not to "beg the question" (perhaps a new partner) cos they wont like wot they hear- this persons vast history overwhelms him. just what i think, great song! |

i think this song is about a girl who is unsatisfied in a relationship, doesnt say anythin tho, keeps it in. "Got paper-cuts from the love letters you never gave him" - im not sure but way i see it this means that the fact that she isnt writing love letters & feeling the love that people have when going thru that phase of a relationship is the thing that's causing the "papercut" (pain) . she's starting to desire for more things, more than this seemingly tender relationship, something more risque. the "why would you say sorry" to me is the boy constantly apologising cos he thinks he's doing something wrong but the girl knows that he doesnt do anything wrong and thinking "why does he apologise"- it probs makes her feel worse. it cud be the girl apologising however as wotever he dus is not enuff and she cant love him back- and the boys not understanding why shes apologising, he's oblivious to how she rele feels- she douesnt love him!. i dont alf go on do i, my take on it :) dead well written this song is! xxx |
