| @ aguitarandaheart, I think you've got some of it right, but I don't know if it's only about their music and directed at fans. I think it could be broader than that, and I think when they say "don't you every try to be more than you were destined for or anything worth fighting for," I think it's very facetious, a caustic, biting remark showing how asinine it is when people think they know what your purpose is in life better than you do. I'm sure part of the inspiration was directed at fans, but who knows who else may have contributed to this amazing tirade of a song. | |

I can't believe nobody's commented on this amazing song! This one seems pretty straightforward. A fucked up relationship is over, and the dude is still fucked up over it. Probably better to be out of it, but like a typical human imbecile, he can't just let go and move on, he's got to dwell. Hell, he probably doesn't want to go back to her, he's just miserable over the whole damn thing! Also, I think maybe the chick could never compromise, never admit she was wrong, never compliment him, always tearing him down, and now he's having trouble not believing all the bad shit she said about him. That's my take b/c I went through it. |

adventFLUX - Dead on except Atreyu is not metalcore anymore. They aren't one single genre - some songs sound emo to me, some just hard rock, but whatever they are, they can't be called metalcore. ATR and Atreyu can't both be metalcore, and ATR is without a doubt metalcore, and pretty damn good at it. This song is about somebody who's taken responsibility for his own life and past mistakes, found some kind of purpose, and instead of blaming others, is taking control. He's determined to leave his bullshit past behind and succeed. |
