For me this song is really really beautiful. The first time when i listened this i didn't understand the lyrics, as in i was't paying attention at what he was saying at all, but the atmosphere! it is unbelievble. the single words that i could hear clearly was 'hapiness hapiness', and it was like.. omg. so beautiful! and my feeling was that this is not a happy song, it's a song more about a wish of hapiness. and this was before reading the lyrics. all you said before makes sens, so i will let it that way :) this is a really touching song, from the first time you listen it. |

this so interesting. on one hand it's something somehow strange, the repetition and the pauses are unusual and to be sincere, when the song first started i though that my PC is having another breaking again. after some seconds you get used with them and they are kind of catchy, actually. and on the other hand what makes this song so interesting are, of course, the lyrics. again, first i though - this is so simple, too simple, what happened with them? but actually that was the idea. to be simple. and "battle for the sun" - great concept. and after reading what they declared and also hearing one interview i`m completely sure that this a great song, one of the bests from their career, so they have all the reasons to be proud of it! but this is just me, of course. ;) |

What does this song mean to you? It is really strange, but this is a song that i'm listening when i need some encouraging.. thank you, Raining8s, for posting this. I prefer to think that she is fine now, and this is all that matters to me :) i also think it's a 2 part song. the first part (the first 6 lyrics) is adam's, and 2nd part (the rest) is about that group and about what they think. this is a really deep song, and it is just.. beautiful. |

I also agree with Manikay. I also liked that ideea that the boy and the girl are somehow connected, buy i don`t think it was meant to be like that. Many things of what i read are nice "getting out of the box" ideas. The song is really interesting, since the first moment i listened it, it sticked into my memory and brain, and it is.. gorgeous! I`m way too addicted. This idea came into my head when i first realise that i can`t feel the pause between the last four songs, that are all going like just one. Now, i want to say something (maybe not) new, another point of view. Try listening "boy with a coin" as the first glimpse from the biggest view. I think there are 4 songs here, the last 4 from the album. Listen, from musical point of view there are all in the same tonality, and from the lyrics point of view even more! the first three have a similar construction, even the forth. The last verse repetead at every stanza. And the continuity! We have the ~boy with a coin~ about all you said, innocence, not hoping. After "Devil never sleeps" with that obvious "Dreaming of...". Then comes the "peace beneth the city" with the prayer, with the ideea of we as lost creatures, that is not ok what we do, we should see more than this. And in the end is ~flightless bird, american mouth~ "I was a quick wet boy/ Diving too deep for coins". the first time i listent the 4th one i didn`t understand the ideea and the lyrics at the full strenght, now i see why. really, there are also the motifs of the "white girl" - the girl that lost innocence because of this world, the boy, the coin (that can also mean the true sense of life, and the way society dosen`t want all these). Anyway, listen yourself and try, maybe is just me, but i really think this 4 songs are strongly connected. You can also take them as the "growing up" period. We, in our process of geting older and more mature we loose innocence and faith, after that we feel that something is missing, we need it back, we start dreaming. Even this is not enogh, dreaming dosen`t make anything come true, so we start praying and we realise what we did wrong, and we are sorry, we regret. And the last part when we remember evrything, when we somehow passed over it, but we are incomplete and unsure of anything. (~have i found you, flighless bird? or lost you~ bird could also be innocence).. there is more and more but i will stop now. :D sorry for mistakes, sorry that this is so long, but this is what came into my head. tell me if i`m wrong :) |
