Brundisium is Latin for Brindisi, an industrial port city on the east coast of Italty and it has a reputation for being a most ugly place, the arse end of the country. its a song about a sailor and his bride, and a marriage where they spend more time apart than together. the song is epitomised by the line of "oh darling, dont put your veil over me" where the sailor reminds his wife that his job/lifestyle will never allow them to live together like other couples do. so sad. |
