this is my favorite from this album. it just seems the most manson-ish (especially the chorus). and it's not dita. it's evan.

Marilyn Manson – 15 Lyrics 16 years ago
okay, i'll correct a few things here. first:

it's called 15 because it's the 15th track (as stated in an interview).

it's about Evan Rachel Wood, not Dita. Evan has since broken up with him (as of November 2008). Apparently, she was the one who wasn't serious about the relationship this time around (to my understanding).

the lyrics were made up on the spot of recording, and recorded in one take. the original recording was nearly 20 minutes long.

the most interesting part of this song is that omega is wanting to be alpha. they each want to be in each other's position; omega want's to be dead to everything, and alpha wants to feel. they both hate where they are, and in the end, they'll suffer no matter what they become because that's the way life works.

Marilyn Manson – Coma White Lyrics 17 years ago
and the album IS devided between two sides, one being the android who wants to be human and feel again, and the other (the dark side in the booklet with all the pics of the band members) being the omega alien who wants to be a rock star. it's also possible that in the album, the alpha android is in love with the coma character, because that entire side of the booklet is filled with the word "COMA" and the lyrics to this song are found on that side.

in the unreleased book (Holy Wood -- go to mansonusa.com and find the leaked chapter), Coma White was literally the girl's name. She was the daughter of President White. given the word to the CD ROM track, i'm guessing Hollywood was made the new capital of America. anyways, Coma admired Jack (the hero character of the story, who is eventually martyred for whatever reason; i'm still trying to understand the Triptych) because of his freedom and ability to stand up for what he thought. She was sexually abused by her father, and according to the song, got into drugs over it, and (maybe) killed herself. this is very heavily connected to the story in that book, and i'm pretty sure everyone would get it better if the entire book were released.

Marilyn Manson – The Dope Show Lyrics 17 years ago
Considering the band was on a shitload of drugs when this album was made, parts of the song can be interpreted as encouragement for drug use (the first verse, mainly).

"the drugs, they say, make us feel so hollow"

&

"to swim you have to swallow"

talking about how people always tell you what it's like to be on drugs, but you really don't know until you try it yourself; the second line saying you have to have your bad experiences and know what can happen before you can enjoy drug use.

other parts of the song are a little different, though.

the entire chorus, and the line about cops and queers making good models, are referring to (and giving examples of) how t.v. is aching to sweep up and sell you once you're on drugs (shows like "Intervention") and how the people who are expected to set the standard of order (cops) get ratings up even higher when on drugs because it's "worse" for them to be users.

and on my own little bullshit bragging note, it was great to hear manson open this song with a few lines from The Beatles' "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" when i saw him on Rape of the World.

"I need a fix 'cause I'm goin' down...
Down to the pits that I left up-town...
I need a fix 'cause I'm goin' down..."
