this is the most moving song i've heard in awhile. Bought CD this morning, then put it on while cleaning my car... the song stopped me dead, the lyrics tell the story brilliantly, fulll of emotion. My favourite part is the dynamic imagery of the flag that the protagonist trusts and loves. That being said, the meaning it very obvious.. to shed light on the irony of soldiers and war being viewed as 'hero' and 'heroic' actions by American citizens. |

I think it's "It's too late to rise from ruins." and never real good out interpreting songs correctly? but perhaps a friend her partner who continuously lets you down in some way yet always looks to you for forgiveness? and just having enough of such a relationship. the opening two lines and the chorus paints that picture for me particularly. |
