but i just think that there would be no breaking of hearts if God was involved. this song is about letting something go, ending it. maybe you can interpret individual stanzas into something jesus related, but the song as a whole would not make sense if it was about God. just reread the lyrics. maybe you will see? when it says, "And you said I know that this will hurt But if I don't break your heart then things will get worse If the burden seems too much to bear Remember The end will justify the pain it took to get us there" its saying i know that i might break your heart, but we have to end this reltionship because things can only get worse. if you are hurting too badly about this separation, just remember that you WILL get over me and you will find someone better and be happier than you were with me. or, "the end will justify the pain it took to get us there" right? or |

the reson i love relient k so much is because, while they are a christian band, not all of their songs deal with god. or anything god-related. at all. has anyone noticed that their songs are getting less and less christian as the albums come out? we are going from "less is more" to "my girl;s ex-boyfriend" and i AM a christian, but i can appreciate that thats not all of who relient k is, they reach a lot more people that way. God is great, but we do live in a world where we DO have problems that dont deal with god in any way shape or form. in fact, that is the case with most of our problems. this song is about a guy and a girl, breaking up because they know its for the best. thats IT. dont get all analytical and say some mumbo-jumbo about God and blah blah blah. it is what it is. but i really do love this song, one of my favorite f relient k;s and thats saying something because i have every song ever done by them. :):]:D |

i think this song is about mistakes. and saying sorry. to me it is about a boy. he gets married very young to a girl who doesn;t care what other people think. she gets pregnant, but they know they can;t take care of the baby so she gets an abortion. the song is set just after she kills herself because the guilt was too much. the boy is wracked with guilt, but puts on a nonchalant front telling everyone that it wasn;t his fault she fell in love with their unborn baby. enter 2nd verse: this dude;s best friend was friends with her too, so was his girlfriend. they were like the 4 muskateers:) they were just as depressed when she killed herself, the best friend took time away from everything to forget her; "his girl took a week;s worth of valium and slept" that is to say, she killed herself too. the best friend is so terribly sad, he regrets never weeping for the first girl and not being able to weep for his girlfriend. at the end, the two guys are sitting there, acting like everything is fine and dandy, never talking about it, washing their hands of all of it. then they "fell through the ice when [they] tried not to slip"; they commited suicide too- even though they were the strong ones in the beginning. at least, that is the little movie that is playing in my mind whenever i hear this song. if you don;t agree with me, don;t be mean and bash my idea. this site is for sharing opinions, not telling the person who commented before you that their message is stupid. :):]:D |
