| Cake – Commissioning A Symphony In C Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Right, just because something isn't in a "difficult" key means it could never be beautiful or composed by anyone worthy... How about Prelude to Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G major? One sharp means no way could it be difficult right? Or glorious? But you listen to it and it's astounding, it gives you goosebumps... I'd also like to point out the utter retardation of saying a TRIad is two notes. It's not like they called it a triceratops because it had two horns. Triads are essentially chords, and certainly many of those abound in symphonies. Just arguing the theory part here, you may be right about the meaning behind it. |

| Mike Doughty – Thank You Lord, For Sending Me The F Train Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I know this feeling so well, praying to some God just in the hope that it helps. And as soon as you get what you wish for you break all your promises... | |
| Miles Kurosky – I Can't Swim Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Wow. Not so good interpretation here. She was naked She was waiting by the seaside She was crying She was filling up the ocean for me Because she knows I can't swim All the wailing and the sobbing on the hour C'mon darling C'mon c'mon c'mon You know you know I can't swim I need air Just some oxygen, I think it's only fair A reprieve, a pardon, please I've read my sentence and it seems a tad extreme The tears kept raining all night With a warm, salty sting The coastline stretches for days Now it's all I see I play the fool, I play dumb I kept the flow of denials Can't believe I let my excuses up to no fire Each one a dead albatross and a one-way ticket to Devil's Isle It's five fourteen in the morning It's bad, bad, bad as you go I plead with the sun to called on the dawn: Where you hiding? Where you hiding? She was golden and devoted to the shoreline She was young, beautiful and her skin was on fire And she knows I can't swim I never learned So I'm not sure what songs the sirens use to lure A wayward lad whose legs need land I've been convicted and most certainly condemned To drift each nautical mile Under a blistering heat Is this heaven or hell? Or in between? I play the fool,I play dumb I kept the flow of denials Can't believe I let my excuses up to no fire Each one a dead albatross and a one-way ticket to Devil's Isle It's five fourteen in the morning It's bad, bad, bad as you go I played with the sun to called on the dawn: Where you hiding? Where you hiding? Don't take my heart Cuz it's a worthless little stone and without it I would float all my days and nights I'd rather sink to the floor than continue with this pyre So don't take my heart Cuz it's a worthless little stone and without it I would float all my days and nights Don't know about the "line of excuses" line. I hear "Can't believe I line my excuses up single file", but that doesn't seem right. |

| Mayapple Weather – The World Called Today, They Sounded Pissed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's just about telling your lover not to be sad because the world might suck but it's also beautiful. | |
| Wolf Parade – Disco Sheets Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Every time I listen to this song, I wish they'd put it on Apologies, but I think that "We Built Another World" was built around this song, and I like that one better anyway. Wolf Parade... there are no words. They're too wonderful. |

| Great Northern – Low Is A Height Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I try to remember that low is a height whenever I'm particularly down. Of course, listening to this album always helps. I think this one is just a random collection of thoughts and phrases that sound pretty when strung together. But it's very calming. |

| Great Northern – Telling Lies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The energy of this song is fucking epic... such great buildup. I think the meaning is pretty clear-cut. If you keep looking behind, trying to stay in the past, you're going to miss out on what's happening in the present. |

| Does It Offend You, Yeah? – We Are Rockstars Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love the beginning to this one so much. | |
| Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Let's Make Out Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yeah, their accents make the whole thing pretty hard to make out [sic] but I think it's more of a product of not breathing between each line that makes it sound like he's saying "Let me go!" at the end of the chorus. | |
| Great Northern – Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
God, this is the most depressing song ever. It's most likely about finding out you've only got a few weeks to live- advanced cancer or some other illness that you're not coming back from. And all you can do is take some medicine to make the pain of dying go away. "For the rest of your life, you're gonna be high"- well, that's not hard when the rest of your life is only a couple days. And yes, that stuff will make you trip like crazy. When my friend died of cancer, he was seeing all sorts of things toward the end. This song makes it all sound ok, though... |

| Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's about acid. | |
| Does It Offend You, Yeah? – With a Heavy Heart (I Regret to Inform You) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Oh, and it sounds to me like he sings "Have I condemned her?" and not convinced. "She won't be there with a rebel"? |
|
| Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Battle Royale Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Really? I don't think the two sound anything alike. | |
| Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Doomed Now Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is the only one I ever skip. | |
| Does It Offend You, Yeah? – With a Heavy Heart (I Regret to Inform You) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I hope it's not just my dirty mind, but when they're saying "Oh god" with the really heavy breathing it sounds sort of... orgasm-y. | |
| Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Dawn of the Dead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is so the best Does it Offend You, Yeah? song. Has a very '80s feel to it. I don't know if it means anything, though. Does it have to? |

| Insane Clown Posse – Juggalo Chant Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I must say, I am not an ICP fan, I'm certainly not a juggalette, and I don't even know many juggalos. But this song has a great message, to carry on no matter what and that you'll never be alone as long as you have fellow people in any cause you support. | |
