Scott Walker – Farmer In The City Lyrics 15 years ago
"The album is a triumph before it’s even five minutes old, thanks to mournful opening track “Farmer In The City.” Against a slow, dirge-like string arrangement, Walker recounts the final moments of life for Italian film director Pier Paolo Pasolini, who was repeatedly run over by his own car, which was being driven by a male prostitute he’d hired. Walker’s voice takes on a tone of total terror, and he strings together isolated images to create a bleak collage of sorrow and memory. By the time “Farmer In The City” reaches its haunting, inevitable conclusion, it’s clear what Walker has accomplished: The song is the sound of someone’s life passing before his eyes." Maybe 21 is the estimated number of times Pasolini was run over.

Talking Heads – This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about or inevitable existence. He goes through life looking for a place he feels at home, but takes his time since he thinks he's got plenty of time. He eventually gets into a relationship with an individual, and he guesses this must be "the place". This place is not what he idealized as being "the place" but it'll do. This song is about human beings at their true nature towards relationships. David Byrne takes a very primitave stance in these lyrics. Human beings are in fact animals. The difference between humans and other animals is the fact that humans can communicate, which arrises the indifference in this song. By being a human, one must live their life based on the human expectation and way of life, that being: A man and woman marry and live together. He finds a woman who is attractive based on society's expectation. He feels like he's achieved his purpose, but in fact it's not true love, love may never exist. She is a good looking girl and that'll be just fine because society will deem that as acceptable. They're not soul mates, they're just 2 humans (animals) who happen to be in the same place at the same time and it is convenient for them to be together based on society's expectations. He's not absolutely happy about it, but that is where he belongs for history has proclaimed it as the norm. Through this conceptoin of the norm, one is devoted to the other til one ends up dying. Afterwards, one can find another to spend a minute or 2 with. "I come home - she lifted up her wings. Guess that this must be the place. I can't tell one from another. Did I find you, or you find me? There was a time Before we were born. If someone asks, this is where I'll be . . . where I'll be" These lines explain my interpretation of this song. He guesses this is his home because she is a good looking girl. They came into this relationship by just being 2 animals destined to find a partner based on the norm.

Sigur Rós – All Alright Lyrics 17 years ago
I believe it's about how Jonsi wronged his lover in someway (cheating on him, for example). He wants to tell him so bad, but hasn't yet, because right now his lover does not know, and they are happily together. But he knows once he tells him, things won't be the same, but right now things are perfect, and he feels at home.
