I think it's about someone selling themselves short, accepting an empty 'relationship' based on sex although they deserve more. It's about a relationship/culture where relationships are based on sex. And the character in this scenario is accepting this. In the first line "Ask yourself are you a slut?" It's pointing out that he's worth more than this and know's it (deep down), but a physical relationship is easier. There's obviously more layers to him than just his sexuality. This is obvious in all the lines "don't let your cock do all the work" because there's more to him (and of course others). However, sadly, society will let individuals slide by in these physical relationships. They don't really frown upon it and people who are great and worth a lot sell themselves short to people who just want to get something for free because "we will never write you off" I think he's just begging, the whole song to me just seems like a plea to someone (more like an interior monologue)to get the courage to demand what you're worth for. I agree this song has to do with moving on but I also think it has to do with the fact that no one ever really takes her emotions, or her, seriously. "What me worry? I never do." I feel that's just her saying of course I'm always fine, sarcastically to those who always expect her to be. Especially "I'm always amused and amusing you". Whoever this is about expects her to be happy all the time, but of course she isn't. She's stuck in a place where no one takes her seriously and she wants to leave this relationship but realizes its going to be confusing to an extent because as he shes it she's always amused. I know St. V talks about not being taken seriously a lot and how it bothers her which is one reason I think this. I also love the line "Stir the dust underneath the thrust of my clicking heels" She makes so many wonderful Wizard of Oz references in her songs! |

| I think it's just about all of the things she's done to change herself for all of these people, specifically guys. She's totally exposed herself and given up all her dignity to support or to get these people to like her but now she's saying she doesn't want to be their cheerleader no more, so they either take her or leave her. A great example is in the line where she says I played dumb when I knew better. It's a classic reference when people act stupid to get people to like them. But she's not going to do that anymore. She realized it just makes her a "dirt eater" or makes her no better but worse than what she was before. | |

| Absolutely beautiful. I think its about the standards society sets for woman. This is evident in her music video as well. Society wants woman to be the perfect house wife or whatever, but she can't conform to this standard but understands how much easier life would be if she just gave in. | |

This song at is amazing so its a shocker no one has comented on it well not really but...its a beatiful song about (in my opinion) How he likes somone or liked someone and now its akward between them becasue they are not seeing eachother and their friendship is broken so when he says "What is it that gets you through Another day when I'm not there" Cause hes not sure hwo he gets through a day without her just as a friend. And they only way he can get over it is by taklign about it "Run my mouth off" But hes smart and realistic and does realize he wont remeber it later "And in fifty years no one will care" but knows he just has to get it off now. Amazing song and i know theres more to it but thats just the core in my opinionbut its breatiufl |
