I dunno. Seems to me it's about someone retreating into their own imagination/idealized world to hide from the harsh realities of the real world. But he knows he can't stay there ("I find comfort in that I've been told I can't remain here."), and somebody's come along to try and snap him out of it ("Come now stupid man you've been down there long enough. Let's go do something with the day.")

Saint Longinus was a Roman soldier who pierced Jesus on his side with his 'Spear Of Destiny' while he was on the Cross. In some recounts, it was said that the touch of Jesus' blood cured Longinus' blindness. The title of this song "Sangre" is Spanish for "blood", so this song is a stab (no pun intended) at religion being "the opiate of the masses". |
