i think the great thing about songs like this one is that it relate to so many different things in so many different ways. when he sang these words they meant something to him that probly means something entirely different to me. i think all great music is likewise. i think when some artists write songs and you can't figure out the meaning, it's almost like they write songs for us to interpret it for ourselves. this song is really powerful to me because it tells a story about my life. it's the typical dramatic high school story of a girl. i fell for a boy who broke my heart. not just once. finally, i had to make the best decision for myself, "static to the sound of you and I undone for the last time". i basically told him that i couldn't keep putting myself through the same thing over and over again. it took everything i had to tell him that because i did not want to give up. at all. i waited and waited for him to finally get things in order and quit changing his mind on everything. the very last thing i wanted was to just call it quits. but i was so tired of hurting from what he would do to me over and over a countless number of times. static is the only thing that can describe the thoughts that went back and forth in my head. i finally got the the point that i could make myself numb, and push him out of my life just long enough that i could pick it back up again. i didn't want to be rescued, because i wanted to be near him. |

songs like this one i really think have a completely different meaning to everyone. one person could listen to it and get a totally different impression then the person sitting right next to them. i'm a dancer. and lately we've been working on a contemporary dance that's to this song when we first started we were told to make this our song. i know it sounds corny but my teacher talked about how every dancer has some kind of story and all dancing is is expressing yourself. so express your story. and i'm not gunna go into what my story is but i don't get the same affect from any other song. this song means so much to me. it is my story. and every time we dance it, by the end i'm literally holding back tears. ahh it's amazing! |

wow, first comment =). i love the end of this song! [you are the light up ahead at the end of the road when i look in your eyes gir, it feels like i'm home] it reminds me of "look after you" by the frey. they have a line in that song that says "you feel like home" that is also a great song =). this band amazes me over and over. every song on their new album is amazing! love them! |
