I think this is a surprisingly good song. i found it a nice change from katy perry's normal stuff which is pretty shallow. I like this song and the lyrics are vey sad and I always feel so wistful when I hear it, which is a combination of how its sung and the lyrics. At first i thought ut ws about cheating on her bf and feeling really guilty but for some reason she still does it. now ive read the lyrics I see its about her being with the perfect guy and then she messes up, and the relationship ends but she doesnt get obver him, even though shes with a new guy. I like the video too |

This is such a beautiful song. Although the intro is quite long, it gets u ready for the general feel of the song. It's about being in love with someone and realising that they are actually false, that it was all bullshit but still wanting to hear them say that they care, even though you know they don't. I like this song, it's simple and it rings true but it's not over-done. I like how it gets the message across without being sappy and pathetic, very nice. Good song. |

I think this song is about being sexually abused. I imagine a little boy being abused by a man in a position of authority over him, who he trusts but is actually a predator. This would explain all the child-like imagery that's described. The guy does this repeatedly to the boy and no one knows. Maybe it's said to be about a nightmare, but I really think that it describes the situation I described a lot better. |

This song's okay, it's kind of boring really, I'm not a big fan of the Pigeon's, I think they're too unoriginal really. It's about a guy going out with this girl who's always going out and getting drunk and has no control over herself basically. He wants to end it but he doesn't want to leave her by herself because she can't look after herself properly. She makes him feel guilty so he stays with her but this time it's goodbye for good. He wants her to leave the dress on because if she takes it off, they'll sleep together and it'll be all the more complicated- he won't be able to levae etc. |

I like the imagery in this song, it's really mellow and nice. I think that it's about a guy who goes to a rave and feels really out of place because Laura isn't there, then ends up pining for Laura. I've been in simila situations when my friend (who I hook up with)isn't with me in social situations and I feel completely alienated and like nobody gets me the way she does. It's a pleasing song to listen to though and I like it because I can relate to it. |

Basically, the singer's reflecting on his high school days with a mixture of relief that they're done and wistfulness. |

i think that it's about comparing the girl to a drug because she's so addictive- she's way out of his league and she's cheating on him and he knows but he can't get enough of her so he doesn't do anything. He's obsessed with her but she doesn't really care about him. She doesn't want people to know about their relationship either. I think the first bit means that she treats him like shit and he just takes it because he doesn't want to loose her because he needs her. She's his drug. |

To me, the song is about being in love with this one girl and trying to get over her by getting close to another girl physically, but knowing that it is completely meaningless. he compares the girl he held to the girl he's obsessed with but there's no comparison. he can't even remember if they had sex, probably he physically wanted sex but emotionally was distracted. i agree with palooka about the girl-boy-submission thing. the song's basically about being in love with someone and trying to get over them but knowing that everyone else just fades into the background in comparison to them. |

i always thought that this song was about someone with depression, not the narrator themselves but someone they knew, perhaps a boyfriend or girlfriend, someone close regardless. i never thought that the point of view changed throughout the song but that it stayed the same, the point of view of an onlooker. the person the song is about is badly affected by depression and it affects the narrator too, because they see the depressed person and want to fix things for them but they can't and so they fall into depression themselves.the narrator longs for his childhood, which he idealises, because it symbolises safety and the absence of problems to him. he wants things to be simple like when he was a child.the line
'like the one we've wished on' makes me think that the narrator is talkign about someone he's known since childhood, because wishing on stars is a very childish thing to do. they grew up in a small town and they both left it but it changed them and now the narrator's freind is depressed and the narrator is becoming depressed too and wishing he could solve the problems of his friend.
'For all those starving eyes to see' makes me think that the people in their town don't like the narrator and the friend leaving and that they think life is better in their town than in a big city, as is commo in small towns, people usually live there their whole lives. the starving eyes bit makes me think that the towns people and the narrator's family will 'feed off' the depression of the narrator's friend and be smug that things didn't work out in the big city. that's why the narrator longs for his childhood, when he was innocent of these things and felt protected. now, he feels that there's no one to turn too, especially not his family.
not particularly eloquent and very rambling but that's what the song means to me. It's a beautiful song and connor's lyrics are always incredibly profound. |
