Alright people, obviously most of you are not aware that it is songMEANINGS dot net. Ahem... MEANINGS! Not structure, or songfeelings. I will therefore provide my point of view of what this song really... umm... MEANS. For starters the song begins with the line "I just want you close", meaning they are not physically together. (Probably a long-distance relationship or something) People keep talking about how long distance relationships are pointless and stupid but Alicia doesn't give a crap. She just wants to be with him no matter what, no matter the distance, no matter what people say, no matter where her significant other is. *Sigh* The chorus just restates what she said in the verse. No one Can get in the way of what I feel for you... nothing can keep them apart, not even distance. And she is damn sure about it! "When the rain is pouring down And my heart is hurting You will always be around" --> Someone can ALWAYS be around someone else under two circumstances: 1) That someone is a ghost or a spirit or 2) that someone is a thought... I wanna go with number 2, I don't know about you guys. THERE YOU GO! She is thinking about her man and the thought alone will make her feel better even though her heart is hurt. Why is her heart hurt? Loneliness maybe? "People keep talking They can say what they like But all I know is Everything's going to be alright" ---> People are saying: "Alicia, how the hell can you be in a long distance relationship? That is crazy! Your man is probably cheating on you!" Alicia goes: "You can say whatever the f... you want, I just know everything is gonna be alright cause I trust my boyfriend! I'm not worried at all!" "I know some people search the world To find something like what we have" ---> And yes, that is true. How many people search the world and try being in a long distance relationship but most of them end up badly and someone's heart gets broken. But Alicia's relationship is working just fine and both Alicia and her man trust each other... She says "Everything's gonna be alright" because the only thing inbetween them is the distance, and ONE DAY they will be able to be physically together. That doesn't mean they can't be TOGETHER though. Love is not about being physically together; it's about hearing two hearts beat as one no matter where. "So 'til the end of time I'm telling you there ain't no one " ---> It's not everyday you get to find someone you can be in that type of relationship. But when you do, you actually appreciate that someone and it's more real than ever. And if there is love and care between the two, everything is possible. Even overcoming rumors and gossip and lies that surrounding people may bug you with. Trust me.... |

Ok, I actually think this song is about long distance relationships. Until they meet again, their worlds will not be the same, evidently. It is clear that they both agreed on staying forever but some opportunity in life made them go separate ways physically, but not emotionally** When Monday morning you can't wake up Still dreamin' of What could've been Something good has gone and left you It's another tear One won't deny **Either the dude or the girl left, and now it's Monday, in reference to starting a new week... a new lifestyle. But he/she cant wake up because it's hard being away from that special one. They're thinking about how life would have been if their significant other would have stayed instead of leaving. Inevitably, a tear streams down because of that feeling of loneliness.
