i thing it could be referring to an accident awhile back that a young couple who ran off together got in a car accident. the boy came out unharmed but the girls needed a couple of organs to survive, the boy willingly gave his up to save her life, thus the line "even if saving you sends me to heaven," the boy inturn died but left her a note saying that no matter what he will always be with her, where the verse "I’ll be there for you through it all even if saving you sends me to heaven" he was hopefully sent to heaven while she is still amongst us living the life that her boyfriend gave her |

The song sounds like its directed at the other person no matter how you interpret it. It could be a multiple of things a bad boyfriend with a girlfriend, a horrible parent child relationship, but mostly saying that the one person was trying to be with that other person and that other person rejected them numerous times, then finally that one person goes away and the other person on the sour end is finally realizing that this isnt what it should be and is now accepting it and doesnt want them anymore and doesnt feel that they should even weep over their loss and i mainly think this as a mourning song for someone in an abusive relationship that finally ended and as many have said there isnt anyway that this can be a picker upper song |
