OneRepublic – Fear Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree but think that it implies he is struggling to feel safe now ('wish I didn't know the meaning of...[fear]') and can't rest and doesn't feel like there's anyone looking out for him - he recognises that even though children feel fearless there is usually someone watching/caring for them.

The piano in this song is really captivating, wish there were more verses as I really like the beginning. The rest of the song seems almost dreamlike at times, which I guess kind of captures that childhood memory like quality that relates to the song.

OneRepublic – All This Time Lyrics 16 years ago
beautiful song - feel it is fairly self explanatory. The relationship has had to endure time and distance separation but the singer is finally heading back - and this song shows his devotion.

At first I thought the line 'Got all these words, can't waste them on another' meant that they didn't need to speak, as in they didn't need to waste words on each other to convey emotion, but looking at the later lyrics and listening to the way he sings the line I think it's more about reaffirming that there isn't anyone else.

The line 'You say I'm lucky to love something that loves me' makes me think of the first album track 'Made for you' which to me conveys how it feels to have thousands of fans of your music - in this song the singer recognises that he should perhaps feel lucky to have all that love from an audience, but on tour ('wherever I roam' 'don't know the city') that love doesn't comfort him - he is only thinking of getting back to the person he is singing the song to.

is it just me, or does this sound like it could be a Killers track? For some reason when I listen on my mp3 player that's all I can think of during the verses!

OneRepublic – Missing Persons 1 & 2 Lyrics 16 years ago
7 point 1 took it all down - this made me think of an earthquake - i.e. 7.1 on the richter scale brought about the tragedy that took the lives away - making them all missing persons. Then the faces and memory of those missing haunt the singer at their window, but they are never found so there's no closure and it leaves them to 'wonder where you are' at the end.

A tad depressing! His voice makes me think of Coldplay's Chris Martin in this song.

OneRepublic – Made For You Lyrics 16 years ago
This is a fab opening track to the new album!

It feels like it's written about fan reaction and how you can feel their adoration ('all their love') on stage when it's directed to them. The first verse describes the writing process of a songwriter and wondering how darker and more intense lyrics might be received ('how you gonna handle me?')

I don't particularly like the choir ending, but I do like how it links to the following track.

Turin Brakes – Something In My Eye Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the references to 'tiny little hands' and 'my black hole little girl' suggest he is talking about a child and the effect of this new life on existing life plans. Then the 'something in my eye' seems like the reaction to having a kid and not knowing what the future holds; he can't cry but he is reacting to the change. Also he seems more aware of time passing, and running out, and 'tiny little plans' quickly turn into towers.

It's my first listen of this album, and seems like an interesting choice for a single.

shame more people aren't aware of this band!

I will head to check out their new album, haven't seen anything about it yet.

Captain – East, West, North, South Lyrics 17 years ago
Another good song, I feel the lyrics are fairly straightforward - describing a long distance relationship where their partner is currently cheating or likely to cheat ("you open arms welcome what you've always ignored") and he is unaware because they only talk on the phone.

I think it's 'cowardly bow' not 'cower leap out' and this further explains the way their partner is performing in the sense that they are keeping the relationship going by lying and insisting over the phone "take my word now" and then taking a "cowardly bow" because they are not bold enough to end the relationship.

The last lines are a warning that cheating will always be discovered, and once discovered it can't be forgotten ("I can't leave this behind").

Captain – Hazelville Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree, this song is amazing! Very uplifting but the lyrics do seem to point towards feeling isolated from something/someone. Then towards the end it's as if the speaker is more accusative.

Any thoughts on the title Hazelville?
