wow had interpreted it a COMPLETELY different way when i first heard it.. but sex in a pool makes sense. i had thought how it was about people drinking all the time to be part of the crowd are not really living, just doing as everybody else does (from them to we), being pulled in by peer/societal pressure and temptation... might've overanalyzed a bit |

| 311 – Sunset in July Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think they're singing about how much they love performing and seeing how much their audience is enjoying themselves during their concert, dancing and all. it's all thanks to their fans that they've become so successful. Also, they usually tour in the summer, so they've probably performed during many July sunsets | |
| Tool – The Pot Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| In addition, Black Kettle was the Chief of the Cheyenne Native Americans during the Sand Creek massacre. He has been known by some as a peacemaker, thus "pissing on my black kettle" is referring to the government fucking up certain opportunities that would've been beneficial.. | |

I agree with this interpretation completely. I was about to post a comment of my own, but this pretty much summed up everything i was thinking. Tool is not simple enough a band to make songs simply about getting high. There's obvious reference to that, but there's a deeper meaning to this song. People, rise up, don't let yourselves become manipulated by the government's poorly-fabricated lies and cover-ups. Thank you Maynard. |

| The Human Abstract – Mea Culpa Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Its kind of like their anagnorisis that has to do with aristotle's theory of tragedy which shows how this band really knows what they're talking about with a tragedy. I'm glad to see a band that pays attention to these sort of things. | |

This part: "this has been the best night of my life this has been the best night of my life i could have lost my life and i would have lost my mind but now i'm fine and i find that this has been the best night of my life " reminds me of every one of their concerts i've been to. Tom could probably describe the meaning of the rest of the song the best. but one person said how it was about the breakup from Catch 22. which makes a lot sense then, like maybe every SLM concert is "the best night of [Tom's] life." who knows |

| Scars On Broadway – Kill Each Other/Live Forever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is about someone's internal struggles. The struggle between the soul and the mind. Life sucks because you fuck up way too much. And every time you do, you feel nothing but regret. You hate yourself. How can you live forever with someone you hate? You can't kill yourself, you can't change because you're stuck with you forever. 'Til you die. Then it's over. And everything's tumbling down. And you blame yourself for all of it. How can the sun still shine on if everything gets this bad.. The song could be applied to societal problems, if you like it that way. But it could be a little more personal. |

| System of a Down – Suite-Pee Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
i actually think this song is about the Armenain Genocide (seeing as the members of system of a down are Armenian). i feel as though this song is talkin about "Jesus' philosophy" being Christianity, and the Armenians were killed because they were Christian (look it up). those who killed (the Ottoman Empire) failed to "try her philosphy." they didn't try to use love and peace, as Jesus preached. as for "fucking to the garden," many corrupt leaders try to fuck over their citizens in order to put them in a place of power, possibly their paradise (represented in the song by the Garden of Eden). The Ottoman leaders obviously fucked over the Christian and Jewish citizens by killing them. I have a hard time believing System of a Down is completely anti-christian, seeing as it is in their heritage, and they are strong opposers of genocide and such. If you really want detail, "lying naked on the floor," if you think that has to do with rape, well it makes sense, because the persecuted Armenians were raped and terrorized as second-class citizens in the Ottoman Empire. |
