HammerFall – Hearts On Fire Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that this song is about the Christianization of Scandinavia. For centuries, Scandinavia was ruled by Norse pagans (Vikings). The song is probably from the standpoint of a secret society of Norwegian Christians (since the Norwegian king Olaf was the first major influential Christian in Scandinavia) During the Viking Age, Norse paganism was the ruling power of Scandinavia, England, Scotland and Ireland but in 1066, Christianity was declared a state religion in Norway. (which then spread to Sweden, Denmark and other Scandinavian satellite states) The determinations of the English missionaries through it all is reminiscent of:

"Even though the cold winds blow, the fire burns the same"

Aly & AJ – Do You Believe In Magic? Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the song portrays the ability of music to bring satisfaction to those who listen to it and to those who sing it. What does magic have to do with anything. Its that part I do not get.

Drake Bell – Hollywood Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
It means that life in certain places like Hollywood can go wrong and screw you over in big ways. It may seem hopeless to ever recover from bad times but just keep hope alive and things will be great eventually after you improve them on your own.

Barenaked Ladies – It's All Been Done Lyrics 17 years ago
I read all of the other posts and they all delineate the song quite accurately. Before seeing those, I always thought that the song was about a person who longed for a relationship with his significant other. The historical references are supposed to mean that he feels that they have known each other for so long in ways beyond imagination and that they are destined to be together. Love delayed is lust augmented and when they finally get together in the end (although encounters always screw up for them in some way) they will treasure each other due to the delay in marriage.
