| I read the 2nd page and found out not everyone here is a moron... Good job my user name sucks you were actually able to look past what the lyrics say unlike all other posts. its funny how no one understands almost all heavy metal songs are metaphors. Everyone just reads the lyrics and believes its about exactly what the lyrics say. people say these lyrics could be written by an 8th grader. I am and 8th grader and i could not write anything close to as deep as this but i was smarter then you for actually being able to figure out the meaning of this song... | |

I believe that this song is about Christianity. The singer (sorry, I forget his name) cant figure out if he should be christian or not. He believes that theres no proof that there really is a god and doesnt wanna waste his whole life following god if it'll mean nothing. But he also feels an emptyness inside him which he cant heal himself. Do they even cure you - does christianity save you from hell? is there a after life at all? (CUT ME OPEN DRUG ME) - Chruches ect which teach you about christianity trying to convince you its right and that there is an afterlife Or is it just to humour us before we die - But if god doesnt exist ( he does really) then we will have wasted our whole life following him (REPAIR ALL MY DEFECTS) - Being christian makes you a better person, makes you care for others ect. If Only we could heal ourselves - Christianity fills the whole in our heart which nothing else can. We wouldn't need to be hooked up to these machines - if "we could heal ourselves" there would be no need for god but we cant which is why god must exist.. Im not sure whats worse the waiting or the waiting room "You're next sir" becomes a cruel taunt to you recycled air, the smell of sleep and disinfectant - I honnestly cant figure out what this means.. sry lol Your god is a two door elavator - means that god can send you out one door into hell or out the other door into heaven and you have no say in it. I felt like i had to post this because of all the complete morons on the first page... I think its about hospitals - holy shit man that makes sence i mean they do talk about hospitals, Alexisonfire would totally write about something like that! Anyways love the song love the meaning |

To me this song is about power. When you have a job or anything with alot of power after awhile it changes you. The changes are always bad and hes starting to realize this. In the first verse he has a talk with his old self. To convince you that I'm not a ghost or a stranger But closer than you think, Hes saying he can change back any time he wants, he can give up his power. The roof top is the power he has. Hes able to jump and go back to his old care-free life style but hes afraid and doesnt wanna do it. In the 2nd verse he realises how much of a jerk he is and how much hes changed. I took one last look from The heights that I once loved And then I ran like hell, he takes a last look at the power he has and finnally decieds to leave it all behind. |

(Plz stfu about the old being better then the new...) To me this song is about drugs Makes you feel like "gold" but its uninviting and unrewarding. People take drugs to excape problems in life and the try to re-invent their exits. Being "up against the wall", are those problems that make you wanna keep doing drugs over and over again. |
